Responsibilities
Introduction to the role
Do you want to help build the data foundation for a global S/4HANA transformation and speed how medicines reach patients? In this role, you will bring together direct material master data at enterprise scale. You will set common standards, improve data quality, and enable consistent operations, real-time insights, and confident decisions across our end-to-end supply chain.
You will join a high-impact transformation that changes how we plan, source, make, and deliver. You will partner with senior leaders and multi-functional teams to turn strategy into deployable data builds, tools, and controls. You will build a single, trusted backbone from diverse, market-specific material data that thousands of colleagues use every day.
Accountabilities
Strategy and cutover leadership: Lead practical consolidation and cutover strategies that enable timely, risk-managed deployments.
Deployment and rollout: Define deployment clusters and plan market rollouts to standardize material data and unlock global scale.
Tooling and reporting: Build the initial global tooling for consolidation, guide enhancements, and set clear reporting and dashboard requirements that show progress and risks.
Governance and quality: Define and implement the data quality framework for material master data, aligned to S/4 governance, to ensure go-live readiness and long-term fitness for purpose.
Decision frameworks: Establish review and approval matrices, align technical standards, and coordinate inputs for fast, high-quality decisions.
Market enablement and change: Oversee local market setup, apply consistent deployment standards and methods, and lead training and knowledge transfer for adoption.
Data cleansing and profiling: Scope and deliver data cleansing; run profiling and translate outputs into business-led consolidation decisions.
Documentation and standards: Create and maintain clear, audit-ready documentation that supports process standardization.
Keep-clean and BAU embed: Build “keep clean” capabilities and transition from project to business-as-usual controls that protect data quality and value after deployment.
Broader impact: Move from deployment delivery to shaping the enterprise S/4 data governance strategy and roadmap.
Essential skills and experience
Strong SAP skillset, particularly in Material Master or a combination of MM and PP
Strong functional experience in data quality management including data quality rules, data quality reporting, issue management and issue remediation.
Specialist knowledge of data quality management principles and practices in material master data (including data profiling, data discovery, root cause analysis, designing and implementing automated DQ solutions).
Proven track record in applying leading edge data quality enhancement capabilities covering profiling, analysis, migration, cleanse to land step-change in data quality.
Experience in managing sophisticated data quality analysis and improvement projects.
Experience in supporting sophisticated material consolidation projects.
Expertise in supporting training initiatives and comprehensive documentation management for data transformation projects focused on material master data.
Solid understanding of SAP ECC Modules and Syniti ADM.
Demonstrated ability to lead in a diverse, global team, within and across functions. Experience with global working and across cultures.
Demonstrate strong communication skills with the ability to influence others to achieve objectives.
Ability to lead and handle negotiations across a sophisticated group, to a target outcome.
Proven track record of delivery and ability to effectively prioritise to ensure goals and outcomes are achieved.
Good understanding of Master Data Management and Reference Data Management.
Ability to work with business users to elicit and formally define their requirements.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Able to lead conflicting priorities.
Desirable skills and experience
Experience leading large-scale SAP S/4HANA data transformation or ERP master data consolidation in multi-market environments.
Knowledge of direct material master data, supply chain processes, and SAP data objects; familiarity with SAP MDG, SAP Data Services, or similar tools.
Strength in stakeholder engagement with senior leaders and multi-functional teams; confident facilitation of decision forums and approvals.
Expertise in data quality, data migration, and cutover planning, including profiling, cleansing, and control design.
Experience in regulated or life sciences industries and comfort with validation and documentation standards.
Strong analytical skills with hands-on reporting/visualization (for example, Power BI) and the ability to turn profiling into business actions.
Continuous improvement attitude and experience embedding “keep clean” capabilities into BAU models.
