At AstraZeneca, we are united by a shared purpose – to push the boundaries of science and deliver life-changing medicines. We thrive on collaboration, curiosity, and innovation, bringing together diverse perspectives to solve some of the world's toughest healthcare challenges.

Within Global Business Services (GBS), we are transforming the way we work. Through digital innovation, data-driven decision making, and AI-enabled transformation, we simplify processes, improve experiences, and create greater value across AstraZeneca.

About the Role

As an Associate Business Analyst, you will sit within the GBS Service Excellence & Performance Team, part of the COO organisation. You'll work across multiple business services and functions, helping to identify opportunities for improvement, define business requirements, and support the delivery of transformation initiatives.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex business problems, working with data, and leveraging emerging technologies to create meaningful business impact.

You'll contribute across two key areas:

  • AI-enabled process transformation, supporting initiatives designed to improve productivity, service quality, and customer experience.
  • Performance Management, Data & Analytics, helping shape the reporting, KPI, and data ecosystems that enable business performance measurement and decision-making.

Working alongside senior analysts and cross-functional stakeholders, you'll help turn business challenges into clear requirements, actionable insights, and measurable outcomes.

What You'll Be Doing

Business Analysis & Problem Solving

  • Engage stakeholders to understand business challenges, objectives, and opportunities.
  • Break down complex or ambiguous problems into structured workstreams and analyses.
  • Analyse current-state processes, data flows, governance frameworks, and reporting environments.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and transformation.
  • Support business case development, options analysis, and transformation recommendations.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of AI and digital transformation opportunities.

Requirements Gathering & Documentation

  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, and stakeholder sessions.
  • Capture and document business, functional, data, and reporting requirements.
  • Define success measures, acceptance criteria, and expected business outcomes.
  • Maintain clear traceability between business objectives, requirements, deliverables, and benefits.
  • Support prioritisation activities by evaluating value, complexity, and business impact.

Data, Analytics & Performance Management

  • Analyse operational and performance data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and root causes.
  • Support KPI development, baseline setting, benefits tracking, and performance measurement.
  • Help define dashboard and reporting requirements.
  • Challenge data quality, assumptions, and reporting definitions where required.
  • Support the development of insightful and actionable performance reporting.

Transformation Delivery Support

  • Support project teams and agile delivery squads throughout transformation initiatives.
  • Clarify requirements, validate solutions, and ensure outcomes align with business needs.
  • Support testing, change readiness, stakeholder engagement, and implementation activities.
  • Track benefits and value delivery across speed, quality, productivity, and user experience measures.
  • Help embed new capabilities into operational processes and governance structures.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with GBS service teams, transformation teams, technical specialists, and enabling functions.
  • Communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively to both business and technical audiences.
  • Facilitate alignment across different stakeholder groups.
  • Constructively challenge assumptions and help drive data-driven decision making.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a strong Business Analyst first and foremost. Industry experience is welcome, but we're most interested in individuals who can demonstrate outstanding business analysis capability, strong stakeholder management skills, and a passion for transformation.

Essential Requirements

  • Strong experience within Business Analysis, Process Analysis, Data Analysis, or Transformation-focused roles.
  • Experience supporting business transformation or process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong requirements gathering and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience documenting business, functional, data, and reporting requirements.
  • Practical understanding of AI, Generative AI, automation, and their application within business processes.
  • Experience using AI tools to support day-to-day business analysis activities, such as:
    • Research and analysis
    • Requirements gathering
    • Process documentation
    • Insight generation
    • Stakeholder communications

  • Experience analysing and mapping end-to-end business processes.
  • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, and/or Process Mining.
  • Experience working with data, analytics, KPI development, and performance measurement.
  • Understanding of data architecture concepts including data flows, lineage, quality, and governance.
  • Exposure to tools such as Power BI, SQL, Jira, BIC, or similar platforms.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Fluent English (written and spoken).

What Will Make You Stand Out

We'd particularly love to hear from candidates who can demonstrate:

  • Experience supporting AI-enabled transformation projects.
  • A strong "human-in-the-loop" mindset and an ability to critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
  • Experience designing or improving reporting and analytics ecosystems.
  • Shared Services or GBS experience.
  • Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences industry exposure.
  • Experience operating within large-scale, global organisations.

Why Join AstraZeneca?

At AstraZeneca, you'll have the opportunity to work on transformational initiatives that impact teams and functions across the globe.

You'll join a collaborative environment where innovation, learning, and continuous improvement are encouraged, and where AI, data, and digital transformation are helping shape the future of how we work.
