At AstraZeneca, we are looking for a Medical Science Liaison - BBU FM to join our Medical Affairs team within the Andean Cluster / Frontier Markets. This field-based role will act as a scientific partner within the assigned therapeutic area, supporting Medical Affairs strategies for pre-launch and/or newly launched products and indications.

As an MSL, you will build strong scientific relationships with healthcare professionals and external experts, while also engaging with relevant healthcare ecosystem stakeholders. You will generate actionable insights, support evidence generation, and contribute to improving clinical practice and access to quality healthcare.

Main Responsibilities

  • Execute the Field Medical Strategic Plan (FMSP) and Medical Affairs strategy within the assigned territory and therapeutic area.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with healthcare professionals, medical experts, and relevant healthcare stakeholders.
  • Conduct high-quality scientific and peer-to-peer exchanges, providing balanced and evidence-based medical information.
  • Identify, analyze, and communicate actionable scientific and healthcare ecosystem insights.
  • Engage, when relevant, with payers, government and policy stakeholders, patient advocacy groups, academic institutions, and other non-traditional stakeholders.
  • Support scientific meetings, advisory boards, symposia, and other non-promotional medical activities.
  • Contribute to evidence-generation initiatives, including clinical research, local studies, publications, and Real-World Evidence (RWE).
  • Support initiatives related to patient journeys, healthcare pathways, access, and public policy.
  • Develop key account plans for prioritized healthcare institutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Collaborate with Medical Affairs, Access, Government/Policy, Commercial, Regulatory, Pharmacovigilance, and Compliance teams.
  • Leverage digital and AI tools to enhance scientific engagement and insight generation.
  • Ensure compliance with AstraZeneca policies, medical governance, pharmacovigilance requirements, and local regulations.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences, such as Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Biology, or related fields.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, clinical research, regulatory environment, or Medical Affairs.
  • Strong scientific, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Analytical and strategic thinking, with the ability to translate insights into actions.
  • Ability to collaborate and influence effectively within a matrix organization.
  • Professional proficiency in English, written and spoken.
  • Willingness and ability to travel within the assigned territory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as an MSL, preferably in the cardiorenal/metabolic area.
  • Experience in evidence generation, RWE, publications, or research projects.
  • Knowledge of healthcare access, public policy, payers, and healthcare decision-making processes.
  • Experience engaging with non-traditional healthcare stakeholders.
  • Advanced degree such as MSc, PharmD, MD, PhD, or equivalent.
  • Experience using digital and AI tools in a professional environment.
