Head of Oncology France
Introduction to role:
Are you ready to lead the charge in transforming cancer care? As the Country Head of Oncology, you will hold the most senior leadership position within the local marketing company, reporting directly to the VP, Head of Oncology Europe & Canada. Your mission is to achieve Oncology P&L targets through strategic cross-functional planning and flawless execution across marketing, sales, diagnostics, innovation, medical, and clinical development activities. You will oversee Commercial Franchises, Medical Affairs, and Diagnostic & Screening departments, while also being accountable for Oncology Market Access, Governmental Affairs, Communication, and Patient Advocacy. Accountabilities:
- Guarantee a strong focus of the entire Oncology team in delivering our strategy and ambition of eliminating cancer as a cause of death, always putting patients first.
- Lead and role model AZ Oncology culture, including an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset.
- Be accountable and a role model for our ethics and integrity values in Oncology activities.
- Fully accountable for the local Oncology P&L, including topline targets and investments/expenses across all departments.
- Accountable for local strategic mid-term planning (MTP) and appropriate delivery of all BSPs (Brand Strategic Plans).
- Manage Commercial franchises, Medical Affairs, Diagnostics teams, and transversal Oncology teams when relevant.
- Define and ensure Market Access, Governmental Affairs, Communication, and Patient Advocacy oncology objectives are met.
- Constantly monitor direct and indirect resources; review and adapt as appropriate to prepare for future pipeline and external environment.
- Provide clear direction, coaching, and development opportunities to all members of the Oncology BU (OLT).
- Maintain a positive, challenging, and motivational atmosphere where everyone feels they can contribute to the unit’s development and receive appropriate recognition.
- Foster a culture of cross-functional work and ownership of Oncology projects.
- Develop strong relations with key stakeholders across the National Health structure and specifically the Oncology ecosystem; maintain contact with relevant advocacy groups in support of AZ Oncology interests.
- Liaise closely with corporate colleagues, maintaining a strong contribution in relation to product development.
- Actively contribute to EUCAN projects as a member of the EUCAN Oncology Leadership Team.
- Provide local strategic input into global brands and projects.
- Contribute to advancing, accelerating, simplifying regional and local working models towards maximum value creation for patients, healthcare, societies, and AstraZeneca.
Skills/Experience:
- University degree qualification
- Substantial pharmaceutical industry experience across multiple functions
- Business unit management experience, incorporating responsibility for sales and marketing
- Market access and/or governmental affairs experience
- In-depth understanding of Medical Affairs activities
- Expertise in Oncology and experience in the French pharmaceutical market
- Fluency in French (spoken and written)
- Successful launch experience in a complex environment and market
- Extensive oncology high-level network (scientific societies, national institutions)
- Significant management experience over large, cross-functional teams
- Proven ability to navigate the local and international matrix
