Team Leader at Animal Sciences and Technologies
Are you experienced in experimental design and do you have strong knowledge of in vivo studies? Do you also have leadership skills and enjoy developing and supporting engaged teams? Join our Animal Sciences and Technologies (AST) department as Team Leader at AstraZeneca in Gothenburg.
AstraZeneca is a global, science-led biopharmaceutical company focused on the discovery, development, and commercialization of prescription medicines for some of the world’s most serious diseases. We are proud of our unique workplace culture, which inspires innovation and collaboration. Here, employees are empowered to bring diverse perspectives and are valued, energized, and rewarded for their ideas and creativity.
The Animal Sciences and Technologies department is a global function delivering in vivo studies, animal care, and animal welfare in compliance with internal standards and external regulations. The principles of the 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement) are applied across all aspects of animal care and study conduct.
The role
As Team Leader, you will oversee a dynamic group working closely with colleagues across AstraZeneca’s safety science organisation, including senior leaders and specialists in safety and inhalation sciences. Your team will be responsible for designing, conducting, and reporting investigative safety studies, including high-dose pharmacokinetic (PK) and tolerability investigations. The team will also support inhalation studies and respiratory measurements, and experience in these areas would be an advantage.
Leading in vivo study design meetings will be an important part of the role. You will contribute to study director initiatives aimed at developing best practices and implementing quality control strategies informed by current scientific literature. You will also play a key role in mentoring junior staff and sharing your expertise in scientific methodology and in vivo study design.
In this role, we also believe that you have the ability to engage in constructive and challenging dialogue in cross-functional teams, as well as the following:
