We are looking for a motivated and engaged team memberforour CompoundManagementteamat our vibrant R&D site at AstraZeneca inGothenburg, Sweden.

In this roleyou willbe responsible forthe storage andtimelysupply of compounds to AstraZeneca’s drug discovery projects. Highlyautomatedliquid handlingsystemswill be employed to supplymolecules to AstraZeneca scientists and partner organisations. You will be a part of theDiscovery Sciencesorganisation,operatingwithin a first-class scientific environment to support drug discovery across each of AstraZeneca’s Therapeutic Areas.

What you will do:

In this position, you will get the opportunity to work in a dynamic and enthusiastic environment, whilst delivering critical support toall phases ofdrug discovery projectsand workingwith a broad range of chemical modalities. Youwill besupporting projects byprocessing andproviding compounds in the requested format - assay ready plates, serially diluted mother plates,formulationsand solids.Bringing in new capabilitiesand buildingnewworkflowsarecore activitieswithin our group, performedina cross-functionalcollaborationsettingwiththedrug discovery projects.

You areexpected to act upon day-to-day issues that occur whilst processing samplesandrunCompoundManagement development projects to ensure continuous improvementwithin the local team and the global department.

Examples oftypical tasks:

  • Designing,performingand interpreting experiments independently to investigate process improvements and evaluatenew technologies.

  • Working closely with internal project teams to meet drug discovery needs.

  • Rapidly addressingcollaboratorqueries with regards toCompound Managementorders, software,processesand capabilities. 

  • Achieving personal scientific visibility through project contributions, internalpresentationsand publications.

Wework collaboratively within our Compound Management teamto understandthecollaboratorneeds and how to add value through our experience and capabilities. Tomaintainthis positionand provide support within agreed service levels, we actively seek ways to improve our process,buildcross teamworkflowsandexploitnewtechnologies.

Essential requirements forthe role:

Compound Managementis a highly collaborative group, working to tight delivery schedules - so the ability to be comfortable working at a fast, goal-oriented pace, with a team-focused attitude,is essential to beingsuccessful in the role.Furthermore, you have excellent communication skillswitha proactive deliveryandcollaboratorfocus.

We also believethatyou have:

  • A BSc/MSc inChemistry/Biotechnology/Chemical engineering, with relevant experience.

  • Excellentcommunicationskillsandhigh work ethics.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability toidentifyand implement improvement activities

  • A track recordin the performance of a range of practical skills, including non-routine complex tasks, toa high level.

We believe that our new colleague sharesourpassion for science, technology and innovationandunderstandsthe drug discovery process.Previousexperience of working in acompoundmanagement role andoperatingintegrated automation equipmentlike liquid handlersand scheduling softwareisa strong merit.Some experiencewithIT (SQL/Python/Java coding) is an advantagebut not a requirement.
