Introduction to Role:
Join our dynamic team at AstraZeneca as an Executive Director – External Manufacturing Procurement. As a key member of the Operations Procurement leadership team, you will report directly to the VP, Global Head of Operations Procurement. This role offers an opportunity to lead a family of categories, provide leadership to Procurement professionals, and partner with a specific area of Operations. Your expertise in Procurement and business will be instrumental in shaping the strategic direction of the function and delivering excellence in business partnering.
Accountabilities:
As an Executive Director – External Manufacturing Procurement, you will develop a strategic global category management approach for outsourcing of unit operations in manufacturing, across end-to-end global supply chains. You will assume overall responsibility for all procurement activity, including strategy development, risk management, and the global procurement and material management process. You will also ensure supply chain security for Devices and External Testing, and Clinical Supply chains across the whole project/product portfolio. Your leadership skills will be crucial in coaching, mentoring, and developing direct reports and managing senior stakeholders.
Essential Skills/Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Accounting or applicable field of study
Extensive experience of Purchasing/Supply Chain environment with appropriate business experience
Experience of project management, execution of large, multiple or cross-functional projects
Experience of managing, leading developing dynamic work teams
In-depth knowledge of commodity markets, specialist in technical/subject area
Basic understanding of material functionality, material flow and handling to optimize supply chain effectiveness
Good understanding of how own expertise integrates with the function and basic commercial awareness
Strong communication and diplomacy skills
Professional-Project management/process improvement experience
Strategic Management experience
Desirable Skills/Experience:
Understanding of multiple aspects of procurement process
Operations experience across multiple technology platforms
MBA - Or other equivalent Master's Degree
CPM or APICS certification
