This role leads the site industrial hygiene program which requires the ability to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control occupational health hazards to protect employee health and ensure regulatory compliance. Responsibilities:
Exposure Assessment & Risk Management
- Conduct comprehensive quantitative and qualitative risk assessments for industrial hygiene hazards including chemical exposures, noise, indoor air quality, biological agents, and Legionella
- Develop and implement exposure monitoring strategies using statistical sampling approaches and data interpretation
- Design and execute sampling plans for air, surface, and chemical monitoring programs
- Analyze exposure data and prepare detailed technical reports with actionable recommendations
Regulatory Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, industry standards, and other regulatory requirements
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with company policies and legal standards
- Prepare and review industrial hygiene protocols and standard operating procedures
Hazard Control & Prevention
- Evaluate and recommend engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment
- Assess LEV systems and recommend improvements for exposure control
- Review new equipment and processes from an industrial hygiene perspective during design and implementation phases
- Investigate exposure incidents and develop corrective action plans
Training & Communication
- Deliver technical training to employees, supervisors, and management on industrial hygiene topics such as Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Heat Stress Management, and Potent Compound handling.
- Provide expert consultation to project teams on industrial hygiene matters
- Communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences through reports, presentations, and meetings
- Mentor and assist junior team members in professional development
Program Management
- Manage industrial hygiene equipment inventory, calibration, and maintenance programs
- Coordinate with external laboratories for sample analysis and equipment rentals
- Support emergency response activities and incident investigations
- Participate in cross-functional SHE committees and continuous improvement initiatives
Required Skills/Abilities
Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Occupational Health, or related science/engineering discipline
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification required
Experience
- 5 plus years of experience independently performing industrial hygiene assessments, exposure monitoring, and hazard evaluations in a Biopharma R&D Environment which includes clinical manufacturing and laboratory operations.
- Proven experience in establishing and implementing exposure control measures
- Demonstrated expertise in technical writing and regulatory documentation
Technical Skills
- Proficiency with industrial hygiene sampling equipment and analytical methods
- Knowledge of ventilation principles and control system assessment
- Understanding of toxicology and exposure limit development and implementation
- Excellent project management skills with ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments
- Strong communication skills for technical presentations and training delivery
- Collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, and medical departments
- Initiative and attention to detail with investigative problem-solving abilities
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to wear respiratory protection and protective clothing
- Ability to climb ladders and work in confined spaces
- Capability to lift/carry up to 40 pounds occasionally
Specialized Experience
- Advanced experience with potent compounds safety and high-containment operations
- Experience with advanced laboratory automation
- Pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry background with GMP knowledge
- Biohazard assessment experience including animal research facilities and BSL operations
- Experience with process safety and chemical hazard evaluation
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development and continual learning in industry emerging topics
Desired Skills/Abilities

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $126,596- $189,894 USD Annual. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
