Scientist, Animal Sciences and Technologies

Join our Biopharmaceuticals R&D team as a Scientist in Animal Sciences and Technologies. This role involves conducting hands-on in vivo research with multiple laboratory animal rodent species. You will be responsible for the care and wellbeing of laboratory animals, working both independently and as part of a team.

Accountabilities:

As a Scientist, you will perform technical procedures such as animal identification, collecting biological samples, and administering test articles via various routes of administration. You will generate clear, complete, and accurate data sets, contribute to the planning and design of in vivo studies, and provide general technical and scientific advice on specific projects. You will also liaise with scientists for cross-functional discussions, report progress, and ensure work is performed in accordance with appropriate Safety, Health & Environment (SHE), quality and compliance standards.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • High school diploma with 3+ years of experience working with laboratory animals or Bachelor’s with 1+ years of experience working with laboratory animals
  • Previous experience working with laboratory rodents
  • Ability to work flexibly across different areas and participate in provision of weekend and out of hours support
  • Willingness to work with infectious agents, hazardous materials, and radioactive materials
  • Manages own work to ensure that agreed targets are met in a timely manner and to agreed quality standards

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in blood collection methods in rodents (submandibular collection)
  • Experience in various dosing routes in rodents (SQ, IP, IV)
  • Rat handling and technical experience
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry and an understanding of the range of disciplines within research
  • Ability to modify or improve processes and systems
