Clinical AI Program Senior Director

You willdemonstrateyour influence throughexcellent communication,listeningand leadership skills to appropriately shape implementation of research programsfrom concept through to design and delivery.

In this role, you will use your experience in health AI research and development and work cross-functionally withboth clinical andnon-clinical teams includingbasic science, translational medicine, real world evidence,biostatisticsand regulatory functions. Ideally, you will have considerable experience with generative AI research and tools.

Responsibilities

  • To use yourexpertisewithin the AI sector to bring innovation and deep understanding of novel technologies as pertains to opportunities to advance or improve strategies within the research and clinical development space.

  • Use yourintegrated clinical,AIand researchexpertiseto provide strategic leadership to teams acrossthe R&D lifecycle within the R&I group atAstraZeneca, contributing both to strategicplanning and implementationboth within the widerorganizationas well as to individual productteamand research roadmapswithin R&I. 

  • Identifyrelevant clinicalpractice considerations,guidelinesandevidence-basedmedicine asrelated to the development and evaluation of AI models and use these to influence research and product development.

  • Respond to the needs of the business and projects prioritizing effort effectively,highlighting key inflection points and considerations to the wider R&D teamand work in abroad and complexenvironment to bring yourexpertiseto a range ofstrategic activities.

Minimum qualificationsand experience:

  • Medical degree(e.g., MD,MBBS,MBChbetc.)

  • 3years of clinical experience withexperience in the provision of patient care.

  • 3years of experience designing and leading research programs in the AI for health space, with 2 years of experience in health-related generative AI research.

PreferredExperience:

  • Additionalsciencedegree or Masters;ideally PhDwithintheAIfield.

  • Experience working with AI and health;ideallyin the private sector.

  • Experience working in complex,dynamicandambiguous environmentsincludingwith cross-functional teamsin the R&D space.

  • Advanced training in a medical specialty.

  • Experience working with partners, includingseniorleaders, Key OpinionLeadersand policy makers, or communicating with external audiences.

  • Strong communicationskills and the ability to articulate complex messages across broadaudiences.

  • Ability toprovideleadershipwithinthe areaand tosuccessfully integrate and pre-empt the impact ofhealth technologyacross the R&D ecosystem.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $288,059 - $432,088.  However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program. Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
