The Oncology Data Science – Data, Analytics, and AI Platforms (ODSP) team comprises multiple groups across the Cambridge UK, Boston MA, Gaithersburg MD, and Munich DE sites. ODSP develops technology, software, and data infrastructure to advance our Oncology data science. Our vision is to evolve data science into a driver of innovation within Oncology. We do this by creating a strategic culture that values our data as a true business asset, organizing our data so that it’s accessible and easy to find, integrated, and re-usable for Humans & AI, and building the best computational tools to support scientific decision making.

As a data product lead,you’lllead and drive the development of multi-omics data products which will serve as data foundation across our portfolio and will be used to influence portfolio and investment decisions. Working hand in hand with our data product consumers (data scientists, ML experts) and data producers,you’llhelp to shape data product strategy and priorities based on business value and user need.You’llwork closely together with software engineering teams to find novel ways to consume data through our tools and systems andyou’llbe the go-to person when it comes to questions and trainings on your data product and its consumption.You will report to the Director, Data Products, Ops & Governance and may be based in Gaithersburg, MD or Waltham, MA.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop the strategy for and build multi-omics data products/ data atlases in a FAIR way which supports AZ cross-project delivery

  • Plan and drive data curation-, integration, -management and operation efforts (coordination between scientists, engineers); conduct data quality control and normalization where needed

  • Lead small cross-functional teams and ensure successful product delivery

  • Work together with data engineers to automate data operations as much as possible

  • Quantitativelyobserveand control product usage, to quickly understand gaps and issues

  • Coordinate and streamline data transfer,exchangeand integration activities with our vendor network

  • Work with data product consumers (bioinformaticians, data scientists, scientists) to understand requirements, develop best practices in data wrangling/curation and storage of RWE data, and gather feedback

  • Develop documentation and training material

  • Identifyopportunities for training/ education and drive/ support development of training and communication material

Essential requirements

  • Master's degree in biology, bioinformatics, datascienceor related field; PhD preferred 

  • At least 3 years Bioinformatics or relatedexperience

  • 3 years' experience indata science/management and or data centric project/alliance management and integration with data entity focus genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics

  • Understanding of the FAIR data principles and how to translate and implement requirements into a typical data flow

  • Great communicationand organization skills as well as stakeholder mgmt. experience

  • Experienced working within cross-functional teams, including business data owners/stewards and technical product developmentstaff

Desirable requirements

  • Experience with multimodal healthcare data

  • Experience with tools like JIRA, Confluence

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $121K to $182K. Our positions offer eligibility for various incentives—an opportunity to receive short-term incentive bonuses, equity-based awards for salaried roles and commissions for sales roles.
