This role is part of the Cell Therapy Supply Chain team tasked with supporting critical development of supply chainlogisticscapability and process. We ask that youplan,escalate issues to ensure successful project delivery.
The Associate Director, Cell TherapyLogistics Process, willdrive the development ofend-to-endlogisticsprocess design, optimization, and continuous improvementthat enable scalabilityfromclinical‑to‑commercial, cost reduction, and right-first-time execution.This role will translate AZ’slogisticsstrategy intostandards, governance, and analytics that improvereliability, cycletime, cost, andthe patientexperience.
Accountabilities:
Process Design andOptimization:Map current state and designfuture stateveintoveinlogisticsprocesses. Lead value stream analysis and bottleneck removal.
Standardization:Author SOPs, playbooks, RACI, and training materialsfor COI/COC, temperature control, compliance, and deviation management.
New LogisticsCapability Build and Readiness:Establishnewlogisticsprocess for new modalities and products; developmock/test execution approaches, and documentation packages that enable smooth hand‑over to operations.
Clinical‑to‑Commercial Transition: Scale clinicallogisticsmethods into commercial‑grade standards; ensure inspection‑ready documentation and consistent execution templates across regions.
Continuous Improvement:LeadLean/Six Sigmainitiativesto reduce cycle time, variability, excursions,and cost to serve;establishmeasurable targets and KPIs.
Digital and Data Enablement: Specify business requirementsand partner with IT to deployorchestrationandschedulingplatforms,integration oftemperature and location monitoring,other data integration,advanced analytics dashboards, and other tools to automateworkflowsandprocess execution.
Performance management: Define KPIs- OTIF, excursion rate, cost to serve; lead root cause and CAPA.
Stakeholder Influence and Governance: Collaborate with Clinical Supply, Manufacturing, QA, Regulatory, and external partners to align designs and secure decisions;maintaininitiative‑level risk registers and mitigations
Essential skills/experience:
Minimum bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA/MS) preferredwith emphasis on operations design or process improvement.
Minimum 8 plus years in pharma/biotechlogisticsor clinical supply chain withdemonstratedprocess design and capability build; cell therapy/ATMP experience strongly preferred
Experience implementing GMP compliantprocesses and procedures that are operable bylogisticsteams, including clear hand‑offs and training artifacts.
Desired skills/Experience:
Lean training/certification (e.g., Lean Champion, Green/Black Belt) witha track recordof implementing standard work, A3s, and visual management.
Strong knowledge of vein‑to‑veinlogisticsfundamentals,COI/COC and GMPcompliance expectations,import/exportconsiderations; adept atdesigning forscalability and clinical‑to‑commercial transition.
Excellent SOP authoring, RACI creation, KPI design/analytics, andeQMSfamiliarity; crisp communication and stakeholder influence without line management authority
The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $115,919.20 to $173,878.80USD. Our positions offer eligibility for various incentives—an opportunity to receive short-term incentive bonuses, equity-based awards for salaried roles and commissions for sales roles. Benefits offered include qualified retirement programs, paid time off (i.e., vacation, holiday, and leaves), as well as health, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
