Introduction to Role:

The Global Study Manager is a member of the extended global study team supporting delivery of clinical studies within BioPharmaceuticals Clincal Operations, Study Management to time, cost and quality, from Clinical Study Protocol (CSP) development through study set-up, maintenance, close-out, development of Clinical Study Report (CSR) to study archiving.

The GSM works cross-functionally with internal and external partners to deliver delegated aspects of the clinical study in accordance with Global Study Director (GSD) or Global Study Associate Director (GSAD) in delegated aspects of clinical study execution in accordance with the Delivery Model, AZ Project Management Framework, current clinical trial regulations (e.g. ICH GCP), AstraZeneca Standard Operating Procedures (AZ SOPs), AZ policies and standard methodologies (e.g. AZ guidelines) and in line with AZ values and behaviours.

Accountabilities:

Portfolio narrative, analytics, and reporting

  • Own the portfolio narrative linking strategy, achievements, risks, and resourcing to enable Senior Executive Team planning and prioritization
  • Maintain a forward-looking Hematology portfolio slide deck and deliver the monthly portfolio slide update (Portfolio Updates, Scorecard Goal Tracker, GPL Roster Changes, etc.)
  • Manage ad hoc slide updates with the Internal Communications Director and External Congress Director
  • Consolidate Hematology abstract views, aligning content across programs and congresses, ensuring consistency of messages
  • Run the Haem Project Seminar Series in collaboration with Global Project Leads to keep stakeholders up to date on the evolving Hematology portfolio, coordinating speakers, content, and follow-up material

Portfolio planning, reviews, and GPT readiness

  • Lead annual portfolio reviews including discovery portfolio review (Haematology Discovery Days), clinical portfolio review, and scorecard goal planning
  • Coordinate and execute ad hoc Hematology Portfolio Reviews with relevant stakeholders and decision makers, including face-to-face reviews as needed
  • Review monthly workload distribution to ensure balanced assignment of Global Project Leaders
  • Ensure Global Project Leaders and Global Project Managers are assigned at least three months before Lead Optimization review at the Oncology Research Board
  • Maintain a forward-looking governance interaction list for the Hematology R&D Leadership Team
  • Lead ad hoc portfolio information validation requests, coordinating with program teams to ensure data accuracy and alignment with governance standards

Hematology Project Advisory Board (HPAB)

  • Serve as HPAB Secretariat
  • Develop and maintain the forward agenda aligned to portfolio milestones and governance needs
  • Run the end-to-end process including pre-reads, surveys, timekeeping, decision capture, action tracking, and next-step ownership
  • Continuously evolve scope and ways of working as the portfolio grows

Innovation, ways of working, and business cycle

  • Explore AI and new technologies to improve portfolio analytics and ways of working, partnering with GPPM and Oncology Portfolio Managers to pilot and scale
  • Support VP of Projects and Haem Projects Group on GPT effectiveness initiatives and ad hoc tasks, including prompt libraries, workflow integration, and training
  • Support the annual business cycle to demonstrate portfolio growth and advocate for FTE growth in collaboration with BPO, Finance, and capacity owners

Having experience of coordinating crossfunctional teams, you are used to working independently and enhancing business processes. You are a problem solver. The sophisticated diary arrangements will require you to have strong influencing skills with the ability to engage relevant people globally in developing solutions; your patience and flexibility will be highly advantageous.

Essential Skills/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of experience

• Prior experience supporting senior leaders in a fast-paced company setting

• Strong interpersonal skills

• Experience in establishing and maintaining collaboration across senior leaders’ community

• Proficient in oral and written English and with excellent communication skills

• Proven track record to develop knowledge in relation to business processes

• Experience using Planisware (PLANIT) at the portfolio level, including extracting data and managing portfolio views
