Warehouse Operator (12 month Fixed Term Contract)

You will join a high-trust, fast-moving operation where cold chain, data integrity, and safe systems of work are non-negotiable. Your work starts at the point of receipt and finishes when orders are safely loaded, creating a seamless supply line that protects patients and empowers our teams to deliver. This is a shift based role - 12-hour day shifts (07:00–19:00) on a rotating pattern, including weekends and public holidays as required

Accountabilities

  • Goods-In and Put Away: Receive deliveries, verify documentation, perform visual checks, book receipts in SAP, label materials, and execute put away to designated locations following GDP and GMP requirements—ensuring materials are available, compliant, and traceable from day one.
  • Storage and Inventory Control: Maintain stock accuracy via cycle counts, bin audits, and Kanban replenishment; investigate discrepancies and update SAP—protecting production schedules and preventing supply interruptions.
  • Sampling and Dispensing: Prepare areas and materials, execute sampling/dispensing per approved instructions, record data contemporaneously, and ensure segregation and status control—supporting product quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Shipping and Despatch: Pick, pack, and stage orders; generate and verify shipping documentation; load vehicles safely; ensure temperature-controlled processes are followed for cold chain—delivering right-first-time shipments that meet patient and customer requirements.
  • Cold Chain and Controlled Areas: Handle materials in IE02/IE04, fridges/freezers, and cold rooms; monitor temperatures and document excursions per SOPs—maintaining product integrity across the entire temperature-controlled journey.
  • Compliance and Documentation: Follow site SOPs, GMP/GDP, safety rules, and data integrity (ALCOA+) principles; maintain legible, real-time records and complete required training—upholding audit readiness and trusted operations.
  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate Forklift (Counterbalance/Reach) and VNA trucks; complete pre-use checks; report defects; support first-line troubleshooting of scanners/printers—keeping equipment reliable and throughput consistent.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and escalate process issues, contribute to 5S, standard work, and problem-solving; support cross-training and cover across areas as required—driving better flow, reduced waste, and a stronger team.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Adhere to manual handling, COSHH, and safe systems of work; use PPE; participate in risk assessments and safety observations—prioritizing safety for yourself, your colleagues, and our products.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Coordinate handovers, align priorities with Leads, Trainers, and backups; support other areas when own tasks are complete—ensuring the operation runs smoothly across shifts and functions.

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Experience in GMP/GDP-regulated pharmaceutical or biopharma warehousing, including cold chain operations.
  • Advanced SAP skills (e.g., EWM, inventory reconciliation, reporting) and confidence with handheld scanners and label printers.
  • Evidence of contributing to Lean practices, 5S, standard work development, and root cause problem-solving; CI certifications are a plus.
  • Proven track record of audit readiness, documentation excellence, and data integrity leadership.
  • VNA high-reach environment experience and the ability to act as a trainer or buddy to support cross-training.
  • Familiarity with Kanban replenishment systems and controlled area handling procedures.
