Introduction to role:
The Senior Director, Supply Chain Excellence & Transformation is responsible for leading and running key supply chain functions to drive perfection, transformation, and integration across the organization. This role involves being responsible for various teams and initiatives to ensure optimal performance, efficiency, and alignment with strategic goals. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in supply chain management, leadership, and process improvement.

Accountabilities:
• Develop and implement innovative approaches to optimize supply chain processes, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness across all operations.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance and foster a culture of excellence within the supply chain & strategy team.
• Governance & integration of supply chain business processes & systems with strong understanding of impacts & integration with other functions.
• Lead Strategic Projects sought at optimizing supply chain efficiency, from E2E perspective including inventory management, from demand management to distribution strategies.
• Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of supply chain initiatives and report findings to management.
• Foster a culture of cross-functional collaboration working closely with manufacturing, quality & procurement to ensure alignment on supply chain initiatives.
• Provide detailed training and support to team members on standard methodologies and new processes to improve team capabilities and expertise.
• Handle audit processes to ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.

Essential Skills/Experience:
• Oversee and complete GSC&S portfolio of strategic programs and projects.
• Support enterprise-wide critical initiatives as the supply chain point of contact i.e. design and establishment of new legal entities.
• Conduct thorough assessments of companies being acquired from an operations readiness perspective.
• Lead cross-functional Integration team in a matrix organization across Alexion Operations.
• Identify key areas of integration & simplification and develop a clear strategy that aligns with the overall business objectives of Alexion Operations.
• Lead integration & simplification efforts to ensure seamless alignment and collaboration between cross-functional Alexion teams, AstraZeneca, and current & future acquisitions.
• Evaluate operational processes and find opportunities for streamlining and harmonization across the coordinated company and AstraZeneca Business Units.
• Ensure compliance for Alexion Operations team with all legal and regulatory requirements related to the acquisition and integration process.
• Develop supply chain map/design process for new and existing modalities – establish design principles by function (physical, financial, tax, and quality flows).
• Implement governance for effective management of supply chain maps and evaluate opportunities for simplification and transformation in partnership with other key functions.

Desirable Skills/Experience:
· Minimum of ten years’ experience in a supply chain/partner relationship role.
· Thorough knowledge of the biopharma industry and biologics manufacturing (small/peptides molecules preferable).
· Bachelor's degree in business, operations management, or a related field. Advanced degree (MBA, etc.) preferred.
· Lean Black Belt qualification desirable.
· Intercultural experience and ability to act in a complex and constantly evolving business environment.
· Strong understanding of pharmaceutical industry supply chain processes and applying continuous improvement & lean philosophy.
· Ability to bridge between scientific, technical, and business functions for effective collaboration and driving results.
· Strong understanding of Regulatory landscape desirable.
· Knowledge of clinical and commercial manufacturing and distribution issues that impact project/product strategy and planning desirable.
· Strong understanding of key supply chain processes including customer operations, forecasting & demand management, supply planning, NPI, logistics and transportation, master data & supply chain model design.
· Strong Alliance/contract management experience working with external customers.
· Thorough understanding of supply chain technology, standard methodology implementations & governance.
· Ability to translate complex supply scenarios into a format that our partners and internal collaborators can easily understand.
