MISSION

Contribute to the design and implementation of the drug's medical strategy for CVRM (Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism), providing robust scientific advice, to deliver meaningful patient outcomes and healthcare value.

Key Areas / Responsibilities / Functions

Scientific Leadership

  • Contribute to the design of the drug's medical scientific plan, in accordance with strategic guidelines and budget.
  • Serve as the custodian of the medical and scientific data of the drug.
  • Continuously update knowledge about specific drugs and studies.
  • Support the medical team to maintain a direct line of bidirectional collaboration with the GMA lead of the product.
  • Contribute to ensuring the objectives of the "Scientific Partnership" through the implementation of local study and publication plans, medical education programs, and scientific advisory related to the drug, to enhance knowledge among healthcare professionals.
  • Collaborate in analysing competitor products from a medical-scientific perspective and share knowledge with internal stakeholders.

Planning

  • Participate in the development of the local strategy and clinical activities of the product, collaborating to establish relationships with Global Therapeutic Area teams to ensure proper alignment.
  • Support the development, monitoring and execution of the Medical Plan for the product.
  • Plan national medical-scientific activities through a development plan with External Experts and Scientific Societies (if applicable) related to the product for which they are responsible.
  • Contribute to the evaluation of ESR study proposals according to the pre-established strategic plan

Implementation

  • Work alongside more senior colleagues to ensure that all projects you participate in meet medical requirements.
  • Work cross-functionally within the Brand Team to contribute to the development of the Brand Plan.
  • Work closely with Marketing colleagues to support the development of brand materials within a specific therapeutic area.
  • Respond to Sales Delegates questions regarding scientific and technical information.
  • Support the preparation of key documents to ensure they are accurate from a medical and scientific standpoint and compliant with internal and local standards.
  • Coordinate with the Scientific & Capability Development Department to deliver training actions to the sales network .
  • Collaborate in the appropriate implementation of educational non-promotional medical projects.
  • Contribute to the correct implementation of Risk Mitigation Plans, in collaboration with Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory.
  • Project the corporate image and values of AZ in both internal and external interactions.
  • Plan and execute scientific engagements, with External Experts, Scientific Societies, etc ensuring compliance with IPHA code and internal SOP.
  • Support start-up, conduct, and dissemination for data generation.
  • Partner closely with the Field Medical/MSL team to align on scientific priorities and key narratives, provide ongoing training and scientific updates, and ensure consistent, compliant scientific exchange.
  • Deliver Medical Plan milestones on time and quality
  • Leverage approved AI capabilities to streamline medical ways of working, responsibly experiment and pilot within governance, and share learnings with the wider team—ensuring human oversight and full compliance with internal policies and local codes.

PROFILE REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences (Medicine, Pharmacy, or similar) or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry with ethical products, having held at least one of these positions:
  • Similar position in another company
  • MSL or equivalent experience
  • Marketing

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the therapeutic area.
  • Experience in clinical practice.
