Senior Director, AI to Transform Care Partner, International

We are looking for a senior leader to own and scale AI-driven Digital Precision Healthcare across International markets, expanding beyond oncology into a multi-therapy area impact.
This role will translate business, medical, and market access priorities into AI-powered care pathway transformation programs, delivering measurable improvements in:— earlier patient identification— faster and more accurate diagnosis— optimized treatment selection— continuous patient monitoring
The role goes beyond strategy: it requires end-to-end ownership from problem definition to deployment at scale, embedding AI solutions directly into healthcare workflows (EMR, diagnostics, clinical practice).
Acting as a central orchestrator, this leader will connect Commercial, Medical, R&D, Market Access, and Diagnostics with external partners (health systems, tech players, AI companies) to deliver scalable, compliant, and outcome-driven solutions across diverse healthcare systems.
Accountabilities:
Digital & AI to Transform Care:
Own and drive the International AI-enabled Digital Precision Healthcare strategy across therapy areas
Translate unmet needs into actionable AI roadmaps and prioritized use cases
Ensure alignment with Commercial, Medical, R&D and Market Access priorities
Care pathway prioritization: Coordinate cross-functional alignment to select priority pathways where digital and AI can improve patient identification, guideline-adherent care, and outcomes at scale: Focus areas:
Patient Identification: AI across EMRs, imaging archives, pathology slides to identify patients earlier and with greater precision, multimodal data
Pathway Optimization: Programs to transform fragmented care pathways, applying AI to reduce diagnostic delays, cut MDT workload and ensure guideline adherence at scale
Diagnosis acceleration and biomarker testing
Treatment optimization and decision support
Longitudinal patient monitoring
Innovative Data Strategy: Collaborate closely with both external partners and internal teams (commercial, medical, and R&D) to optimize data strategies, enabling AstraZeneca to capitalize on emerging technologies
AI for RWE Generation: Generate RWE through Transform Care programs to support payer-ready RWE packages to accelerate approval and access
Health System Partnerships: Establish and maintain a robust partnership framework with digital health partners, driving successful collaborations and ensuring alignment between AstraZeneca and its external partners
Scaling across markets: Establish operating models with Global and Enterprise AI to pilot and scale pathway solutions efficiently, including data sourcing, workflow integration, and stakeholder engagement
Essential Skills / Experience:
Subject-matter expertise in Sales and Marketing, AI, Digital, and Innovation
Experience in ecosystem building, digital health, and healthcare system partnerships
Understanding of the dynamic external environment including new innovative digital technology
Highly developed communication and influencing abilities across organizational teams and levels in a large and matrixed operating environment
Ability to express sophisticated ideas in a clear and compelling way to multiple external and internal partner groups
Proven business partnering skills across multiple stakeholder groups
Proven project management skills in matrix organizations
An excellent communicator; ability to simplify complex messages into clear, visual stories and messages for executive presentations
Experience of working with Senior Management Teams with good understanding of decision-making dynamics
Evidence of the ability to pull together diverse teams over whom they have no line management responsibility
Experience of successful influencing cross functionally, cross-culturally and cross-TA
Evidence of strong independence and innovative seeker of strategic solutions; a strongly conceptual thinker
