Introduction to role:

Are you ready to keep critically meaningful laboratory information management and biological sample storage platforms running perfectly so scientists can move faster to deliver life-changing medicines. In this role, your engineering decisions will directly protect research continuity, data integrity, and the pace of discovery across a complex, global environment!

You will be the technical backbone for our Biobank and LIMS ecosystem, integrating SaaS applications with enterprise systems, strengthening data pipelines, and automating support workflows. Can you picture yourself turning sophisticated integration challenges into simple, resilient services used by teams worldwide? Join a team that uses modern integration, data, cloud, and emerging AI capabilities to help the enterprise run at speed for patients.

Accountabilities:

LIMS and Biobank Application Support: Lead the stability and performance of LIMS and Biobank SaaS products, ensuring high availability, swift recovery, and strong vendor engagement to protect research operations.

Integration Engineering (MuleSoft): Design, develop, and support robust APIs and integration flows with comprehensive error handling and monitoring that make data and processes flow reliably across systems.

Data Fix (Snowflake and PostgreSQL): Investigate, validate, extract, and reconcile data to resolve issues quickly and improve data quality and audit readiness.

Automation and Scripting: Build lightweight tools and utilities in Python or Ruby to eliminate manual effort, reduce incident volume, and accelerate root-cause analysis.

Cloud Operations (AWS): Support applications and integrations hosted on AWS, applying core cloud concepts to improve reliability, scalability, and cost awareness.

Service Management (ITIL): Lead incident, problem, change, and service request processes with clear ownership, strong communication, and measurable service improvements.

Agile Release Delivery: Chip in across planning, configuration, testing, deployment, and post-release stabilization for major releases, bringing predictability and speed to delivery.

Cross-Functional Teamwork: Partner with application, infrastructure, security, data, business, and vendor teams to align priorities, remove blockers, and deliver outcomes that matter to end users.

Operational Excellence and Knowledge: Build and maintain user documentation, operational runbooks, and knowledge articles that enable consistent, high-quality support at scale.

AI-Enabled Support Innovation: Explore and pilot GenAI and agentic solutions to enhance troubleshooting, knowledge management, and operational efficiency, turning learning into measurable productivity gains.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • 7+ years of IT/software engineering experience, preferably within the Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences industry.
  • Strong experience supporting LIMS and/or Biobank SaaS products.
  • Hands-on experience with SaaS application support, incident fix, integrations, releases, and vendor coordination.
  • MuleSoft Developer experience with MuleSoft certification.
  • Good solid understanding of Snowflake and PostgreSQL, including SQL.
  • Basic scripting/programming experience in Python or Ruby.
  • Basic knowledge of AWS cloud services and concepts.
  • Understanding of ITIL principles and IT service management processes.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Experience participating in major application release projects.
  • Strong analytical, fixing, problem-solving, and social skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently across geographically distributed and cross-functional teams.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related rigor.

Desirable Skills/Experience:

Practical experience working with AI agents, Generative AI, LLM-based tools, or AI-powered automation.

Experience creating basic AI agents using enterprise AI platforms or LLM frameworks, AWS or ITIL/Agile certification.

Knowledge of GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11, and ALCOA+ principles.

Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, application monitoring, and automated testing.

Experience working with global teams and external SaaS/product vendors.

Why AstraZeneca:

Here, your engineering craft powers science at scale. You will join a high-performing, digitally fluent community that is integrated across the enterprise, using modern platforms and data-driven practices to remove friction and speed progress for teams focused on patients. We bring diverse authorities together to challenge assumptions, co-create aggressive solutions, and move quickly—balancing ambition with support, and patience with candor.
