Introduction to role:
This role offers the opportunity to shape enterprise master data so life-changing medicines reach patients faster, while strengthening SAP MDG capabilities that support decision-making across a global business.
Based in Chennai, you will join a high-impact technology team at the heart of our digital transformation. Your work will set the standards for how core data is governed, integrated and trusted across the enterprise—enabling speed, scale and quality in how we discover, develop and deliver medicines. You will lead with expertise, translate complex requirements into fit-to-standard solutions and help partners adopt innovative ways of working that endure.
Accountabilities:
Solution Design and Governance: Design comprehensive SAP MDG solutions that align to business outcomes, industry standards and compliance needs—creating scalable, maintainable foundations for enterprise data.
Configuration for Outcomes: Configure data models, workflows, validations, derivations and user interfaces to embed governance into day-to-day processes and deliver a clear, efficient user experience.
Enterprise Integration: Orchestrate seamless integrations between SAP MDG and S/4, ECC and non-SAP systems to ensure accuracy, consistency and timely data flow across functions and geographies.
Data Quality: Implement robust data quality rules and controls so critical master data is complete, consistent and analytics-ready from day one.
Testing and Reliability: Plan and implement functional and performance testing; partner with QA to rapidly identify, prioritize and resolve defects to ensure reliable releases.
Adoption and Change Leadership: Guide partners through change, from early engagement to post-implementation support, enabling confident use and sustained value.
Documentation and Enablement: Produce clear configuration documentation, customizations and user guides that accelerate onboarding and long-term maintainability.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation: Know the latest with SAP MDG advancements; identify and deliver process optimizations that simplify operations and reduce total cost of ownership.
AI-Enabled Approaches to Work: Embrace practical AI and digital tools to automate, analyze and improve everyday tasks, growing speed and quality of outcomes.
Partnership: Collaborate across business and technology teams to translate strategy into delivery, balancing global standards with local needs and driving measurable impact.
Essential Skills/Experience:
5 to 8 years of experience in SAP MDG implementation and customization.
Expertise in implementation of SAP MDG Solution for Customer, Vendor, Material and Finance master data.
Strong functional understanding of master data, integration aspects and ECC modules (MM & SOTC).
Proficient in Customer / Vendor integration (CVI) configuration set up.
Expertise in data modelling concepts, custom data model design and key mapping & value mapping concepts.
Proficiency in SAP integration techniques like IDOC, SOA, RFC, API’s and DRF.
Excel in BRF+, Validations & Derivations, enhancement spots & designing dynamic parallel workflows and MDG Data replications (DRF) concepts and its extensions.
Expert in FPM and UI modelling
Good knowledge in Data Quality management
Experience in Data Migrations and the ETL process
Expertise in MDG Consolidation and Mass processing configurations
Ability to analyse the complex requirements and provide Fit-to-Standard solution.
Superb communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with business partners and technical teams.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
SAP MDG Certification (S/4 Hana version).
Good knowledge in MDG Technical and debugging techniques
Experience in a hybrid environment with a mix of internal and external resources in multiple geographical locations.
