Carry out sourcing and supplier management activities in the acquisition of indirect goods and services in alignment with local and global Procurement policies.  Develop procurement plans, conduct negotiations, and issue purchase orders and contracts.  Support global and regional procurement strategies and initiatives.

Typical Accountabilities

  • Support Site Procurement Targets for cost savings, diverse spend and working capital.

  • Work in collaboration with site Sourcing Manager to implement local and corporate initiatives.

  • Deliver the operational requirements related to assigned categories to ensure the business needs are satisfied.

  • Work closely with stakeholders to ensure objectives and key requirements are understood and aligned with procurement strategy.

  • Review purchase requisitions and statements of work in accordance with business policies, requirements, and budgets, including cost benefit analysis on planned acquisitions, specifications, performance terms and acceptance criteria.  

  • Place purchase orders and contracts for indirect goods and services, including stockroom inventory items in accordance with organizational objectives and category and sourcing strategies.  Systematically monitor completion of purchase orders and close all that are completed.

  • Negotiate contracts for the procurement of required indirect materials, capital projects, and services from approved suppliers. Establish strategies to improve supply chain, solve shortage issues, and strengthen supplier relationships.

  • Research and assist internal customers in selecting potential sources of materials and/or services. When required, qualify suppliers in accordance with vendor qualification requirements.  Participate in audits to suppliers as required.

  • Manage solicitations for competitive bids, quotations, and proposals with pertinent specifications, terms, and conditions.  Support the evaluation of competitive offerings to determine the best offer.

  • Perform supplier management activities with key suppliers across the contract lifecycle.

  • Contribute or lead cost reduction, cost avoidance, cost containment initiatives and reporting results.

  • Participate actively in continuous improvement activities.  Support the resolution of issues raised in procurement audit reports.

  • Work collaboratively with regional and global procurement teams to drive best value for AstraZeneca.

  • When required, liaise between with suppliers, Accounts Payable, and the business in resolving payment issues.

  • Expedite deliveries and conduct follow-up procedures of key purchase orders.  Ensure internal customers are informed of situations that may delay delivery of goods and services and escalate information when necessary.

  • Maintain appropriate level of administration around contracts and suppliers.

  • Coordinate disposal of obsolete or surplus equipment and materials following established procedures.

  • Handle the final resolution of returned materials ensuring continuity of supply chain.

Essential

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of buying experience; or seven (7) years of buying experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Experience supporting GMP Maintenance Area.

Language

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English

Computer skills

  • Proficiency using the Internet, SAP Purchasing Module (or similar system), and MS Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel
