Job Title: Therapy Area Medical Lead, Biopharmaceutical - Egypt

You will lead the medical strategy for a priority therapy area, steering evidence generation, external scientific engagement, and regulatory shaping to accelerate access to innovative medicines. Working closely with cross-functional partners, you will apply sound judgment to ensure medical insights and evidence translate into measurable outcomes for patients and the business.

Accountabilities:

  • Scientific Leadership: Establish AstraZeneca as a trusted scientific authority by delivering timely, high-quality medical guidance that shapes strategy and elevates the standard of care across the therapy area.
  • External Scientific Engagement: Build and sustain peer-level relationships with scientific leaders, professional bodies, and societies to convene credible dialogue and expand AstraZeneca’s influence.
  • Evidence Generation Strategy: Define and lead real-world and clinical evidence plans that address unmet medical needs and directly support brand strategy, from protocol design to data communication.
  • Regulatory and Access Shaping: Provide expert medical input to anticipate and influence the evolving regulatory landscape, enabling rapid, high-quality market access for priority medicines.
  • Cross-Functional Medical Training: Design and deliver targeted medical training that equips colleagues across functions with deep product and disease knowledge to drive aligned execution.
  • Governance and Compliance: Champion rigorous adherence to all medical and promotional standards, patient safety requirements, and clinical trial governance, ensuring decisions are grounded in ethics and evidence.
  • People Leadership and Coaching: Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team; clarify priorities, elevate capability, and drive accountability for strategic objectives within the therapy area.
  • Inclusive, High-Trust Culture: Model inclusive leadership by fostering psychological safety, empowering others, and building cohesion so diverse voices shape better decisions.
  • Cultural Intelligence: Demonstrate self-awareness and curiosity; recognize personal biases and engage across cultures with empathy to strengthen partnerships and outcomes.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in therapy area medical leadership within a multinational pharmaceutical company
  • Strong medical/scientific knowledge and ability to translate data into strategy
  • Ability to build trusted partnerships with external experts and healthcare stakeholders
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration across Medical, Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, and Compliance
  • Good understanding of medical governance, regulatory, and pharmacovigilance requirements
  • Proven leadership, coaching, communication, and influencing skills
  • Strong strategic thinking, execution focus, and patient-centric mindset
  • People management experience is essential

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Experience in medical affairs strategy, evidence generation, and scientific engagement
  • Experience in relevant Therapy Area is a plus
  • Strong capability in insights, data analytics, and evidence generation
  • Experience in launch readiness, market shaping, and access-enabling medical strategy
  • Strong stakeholder partnership across scientific societies, regulators, and healthcare systems
  • Good business acumen and understanding of market dynamics
  • Strong digital and innovation mindset
  • Experience leading in a matrix environment and driving change
