Job Title: Medical Director, Oncology & Clinical Research - Egypt
Introduction to role:Are you ready to lead the charge in transforming medical affairs within AstraZeneca? As the Medical Director for Oncology & Clinical Research in Egypt, you'll spearhead strategies that position AstraZeneca as a scientific leader, ensuring rapid and high-quality market access. This role is all about building a customer-centric, performance-driven medical function that aligns with our values and behaviors. You'll be at the forefront of evidence generation and dissemination, strengthening governance, and developing capabilities across the board.
Accountabilities:
- Define and lead the medical and clinical research strategy for the Oncology portfolio, aligning priorities with country objectives, scientific leadership ambitions, and business needs.
- Partner cross-functionally to shape therapy area and brand strategies, ensuring strong evidence generation and dissemination before and after launch, in line with local regulations and global priorities.
- Provide strategic oversight of the local clinical research agenda, including study feasibility, planning, recruitment, timeline and budget management, resource allocation, vendor oversight, quality standards, and risk management.
- Strengthen Medical organizational effectiveness by building a high-performing, customer-focused function supported by robust systems, processes, and governance.
- Reinforce AstraZeneca’s position as a scientific leader in Oncology through proactive medical contributions, external scientific engagement, and trusted partnerships with investigators, study sites, and healthcare stakeholders.
- Lead evidence generation activities across priority therapy areas to address unmet medical needs and support brand strategy through clinical studies, real-world evidence, and other scientific initiatives.
- Provide expert medical and scientific input to support regulatory strategy, research execution, and timely, high-quality market access for AstraZeneca products.
- Ensure high-quality clinical trial delivery through strong oversight of study plans, monitoring outputs, site performance, vendor deliverables, issue resolution, and escalation of key risks.
- Ensure full compliance with internal policies, SOPs, Pharma Codes, local laws, and regulatory requirements, including patient safety, pharmacovigilance, and clinical trial governance.
- Build and develop capabilities across the function, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, performance, and continuous development in line with AstraZeneca values.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- Physician/Medical Doctor/bachelor’s degree from a Medical or Pharmaceutical School
- Extensive experience as Medical Director in Pharmaceutical Company
- Oncology Experience is a must
- Extensive experience in relationship and stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration
- Excellent Leadership Capabilities to lead change and transformation in medical function with strategic thinking and leadership stance
- Extensive team management experience
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Diploma, master’s degree, or PhD is a plus
- Clinical knowledge is a plus
