AstraZeneca Romania is recruiting a Public Health Manager to design and implement public health projects that improve patient pathways, support earlier diagnosis, strengthen prevention, improve disease awareness and address healthcare system gaps across priority therapeutic areas.
Reporting to the Corporate Affairs Director, the role will be based in Romania and will work in close partnership with relevant medical, market access, policy, legal, compliance and corporate affairs colleagues.

What you'll do
Public health strategy and project design
- Develop and implement public health projects aligned with AstraZeneca Romania therapeutic area priorities.
- Identify healthcare system gaps related to prevention, screening, diagnosis, referral, treatment access, monitoring and long term disease management.
- Design initiatives that improve patient pathways and support better health outcomes.
- Contribute to public health strategies based on disease burden, unmet needs, patient journey insights and healthcare system priorities.
- Support projects that address delays in diagnosis, gaps in care coordination and barriers to patient access.
Patient pathway and health system improvement
- Map patient journeys across priority therapeutic areas.
- Identify key milestones in the patient experience, from symptoms and diagnosis to treatment initiation and follow up.
- Work with medical societies, healthcare organizations and public health experts to improve patient pathways.
- Support the development of practical tools, frameworks and programs that help healthcare professionals and institutions improve care delivery.
- Integrate patient and caregiver perspectives into public health projects, in line with compliant engagement principles.
Data, evidence and insights
- Collect and analyze public health data, epidemiological information, disease burden evidence and healthcare system indicators.
- Work with research providers, academic partners and healthcare data sources to document unmet needs.
- Use data and insights to support project design, external partnerships and internal recommendations.
- Support the appropriate use of real world evidence where relevant for healthcare improvement projects.
- Prepare public health insights, reports, dashboards, project briefs and project recommendations.
Partnerships and implementation
- Develop partnerships with public health institutions, medical societies, hospitals, academia, patient groups and relevant healthcare organizations.
- Coordinate public health initiatives with clear objectives, timelines, deliverables and impact indicators.
- Support co creation of health system improvement projects with external partners.
- Coordinate external vendors and providers involved in public health research, data analysis and program delivery.
- Manage allocated project timelines, deliverables and budgets where relevant.
Qualifications
- University degree in public health, medicine, pharmacy, life sciences, health policy, epidemiology, social sciences, legal studies, economic studies or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in public health projects, healthcare system improvement, patient pathway programs, healthcare research, medical affairs, market access or policy projects.
- Good knowledge of the Romanian healthcare system, public health institutions and patient access challenges.
- Understanding of disease burden, epidemiology, healthcare data and patient journey mapping.
- Experience with research providers, public health experts, medical societies, hospitals, academia or patient organizations is an advantage.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Romanian and English.
