Senior Manager, Site Communications & Community Engagement

Join us as the Senior Manager of Site Communications and Community Engagement at Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease Global Corporate Affairs team. In this role, you will be responsible for building effective communications and engagement strategies across Boston-area external and internal audiences. What you will do:
As the Senior Manager, Site and Community Engagement, you will help build effective communications and engagement strategiesacross Boston-area external and internal audiences. You'll need to be a strategic problem solver, with a talent to develop and implement project plans. Expert-level organization and time management skills are key to supporting numerous projects, deliver in a fast-paced environment, coordinate with multiple functions and/or regions and successfully partner with internal clients and leaders.
You will be a core member of the Alexion, AstraZeneca Rare Disease Global Corporate Affairs team while collaborating with other teams across AstraZeneca ensure the development of compelling communications and engagement plans.
Responsibilities:
- Support the creation and execution of a strategic communications and engagement plan to strengthen our visibility and reputation at the Boston site and in the local community
- Work closely with leaders and communications/Corp Affairs business partners across Alexion/AstraZeneca to ensure approach is collaborative and consistent with global priorities and messaging goals
- Engage and activate employees through volunteer programs, events, and community initiatives in alignment with our values and commitment to social responsibility
- Support the development of thoughtful, creative communications, events and other opportunities for visibility and community building
- Support senior leaders to ensure seamless execution of key local engagements
- Transfer high-level communications and engagement priorities into clear, actionable goals and measurement metrics to demonstrate progress
Requirements:
- 5+ years working in communications, with in-house life sciences experience preferred.
- Experience building and strengthening reputation across internal and external audiences.
- Experience working with executives and other leaders.
- Very strong writing skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Track record of long-term planning and execution of communications and engagement building strategies.
- Comfort operating in a fast-moving environment, while navigating ambiguity and/or frequent changes in scope or direction of projects.
- Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to juggle multiple, competing priorities.
- Experience leading projects and partners (agency teams, cross functional partners, etc)
- Experience in various internal and external communications mediums: speeches, talking points, presentations, videos, social posts, memos, etc.
- BA/BS or similar educational attainment.
- The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. As is typical of an office-based role, employees must be able, with or without an accommodation to: use a computer; engage in communications via phone, video, and electronic messaging; engage in problem solving and non-linear thought, analysis, and dialogue; collaborate with others; maintain general availability during standard business hours.
We would prefer for you to have:
- Direct experience in communications in pharmaceutical industry setting.
- Understanding of the rare disease sector.
- Experience working on heavily matrixed teams/projects.
