The Franchise Head Oncology - Lung is accountable for defining, adapting, and executing the strategic vision of the Lung franchise, ensuring leadership of AstraZeneca’s oncology portfolio in lung cancer. This role drives sustainable growth, shapes market access, and ensures flawless execution of launches and lifecycle management, positioning Oncology as a core pillar of the company’s strategy.
The incumbent leads a cross-functional team (CFT) across marketing, medical, market access, finance, regulatory, legal, compliance, PSP, and sales, ensuring strong alignment with corporate and regional oncology priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the long-term franchise strategy for lung cancer, aligned with global oncology priorities and local market needs.
Cross-Functional Team Leadership: Lead and orchestrate a multidisciplinary team (medical, marketing, market access, sales, PSP, finance, regulatory, etc.) to deliver integrated brand plans and drive operational excellence.
Market Access & Policy: Partner with government affairs and access teams to influence lung cancer policy, secure optimal access and reimbursement, and accelerate time-to-patient.
Brand & Portfolio Management: Oversee launches, promotional strategy, and lifecycle management of the lung oncology portfolio, ensuring leadership positioning in highly competitive markets.
External Engagement: Build strong, trusted relationships with Key External Experts (KEEs), scientific societies, and patient associations to shape treatment paradigms in lung cancer and position AstraZeneca as the partner of choice.
Commercial Excellence: Drive sales effectiveness through coaching, scientific engagement, omnichannel execution, and adoption of the leadership selling model.
P&L Accountability: Ensure financial sustainability by managing budgets, demand forecasting, and profitability decisions for the lung oncology franchise.
Talent & Culture: Attract, develop, and retain top oncology talent, fostering a high-performance, patient-centric, and purpose-driven culture within the franchise.
Governance & Compliance: Ensure full compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and pharmacovigilance requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
Proven track record of success in oncology, preferably with strong exposure to lung cancer (minimum 10 years in commercial/medical roles, with at least 5 years in leadership positions).
Demonstrated success in oncology launches, lifecycle management, and market access strategy in complex healthcare systems.
Strong business acumen with solid experience managing P&L, strategic planning, and portfolio growth.
Deep understanding of lung cancer market dynamics, treatment pathways, and key stakeholders.
Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels internally and externally.
Outstanding communication, strategic thinking, and decision-making capabilities in high-pressure environments.
Education
University degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or Business-related field (advanced degree desirable).
MBA or postgraduate studies in business, health economics, or related areas is a strong plus.
Fluency in English required; additional languages desirable.
