Job Title: Associate - Python Programming

Introduction to role

This Associate - Python Programming role provides analytical expertise to the Commercial organization, driving strategic and operational excellence through data. Acting as a proactive internal consultant to brand teams, the role designs and delivers commercial analytics solutions that enable evidence-based decisions grounded in rigorous analysis and the best available information. It is a hands-on position requiring strong proficiency in syndicated and custom data, primary and secondary sources, and both predictive and prescriptive analytics to unlock brand performance and patient impact.

Accountabilities

In this role, the Associate will coordinate the procurement and integration of diverse datasets and design analytical solutions that support business opportunities, customer segmentation and targeting, HCP and patient opportunity identification, ROI analytics, and optimal resource and budget allocation across sales and marketing channels. The work spans patient and prospective analytics, smart business experiments (test & learn), market simulation and patient flow modelling, and other critical analyses that shape commercial strategy. Collaboration is central: the role partners closely with Marketing, Medical, Market Access, Sales, Forecasting and other Commercial Operations teams to translate insights into action. Responsibilities include developing a deep understanding of internal stakeholders’ data and analytical needs, championing local customer insight in strategic and resourcing decisions, and working with US Sales Force Operations on key processes and joint initiatives. The Associate identifies and prioritizes enhancements and new analytic capabilities, leads their development and embedding across the organization, and instills a culture of continuous improvement, experimentation and deployment of new capabilities. The role develops innovative analytical practices to create sustainable competitive advantage, accesses information from multiple tools and sources, and summarizes findings through clear communication channels. It applies deeper technical skills across the functional area, maintains a strong understanding of how work integrates with that of colleagues, and monitors the external environment to bring leading analytic capabilities into the organization. Strong communication and influencing skills are essential to present succinct, compelling reviews of independently developed analyses, infused with insight and clear business implications that drive action!

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Quantitative bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required in one of the following or related fields: Engineering, Operations Research, Management Science, Economics, Statistics, Applied Math, Computer Science or Data Science. An advanced degree is preferred (Master’s, MBA or PhD).
  • Good years of recent experience and proficiency with Python, R, SQL and big data technology
  • Good experience in Pharmaceutical / Biotech / Healthcare analytics or secondary data analysis.
  • Good experience in application of advanced methods and statistical procedures on large and disparate datasets, specifically:
  • Statistical Analysis & Modelling: Design of Experiments, Time Series, Regression, Applied Econometrics and Bayesian methods.
  • Data Mining, Predictive Modelling & Machine Learning algorithms.
  • Optimization & Simulation.
  • Hadoop ecosystem (Cloudera distribution - Impala, Hive, Hbase, Spark, MapReduce etc.,).
  • Working knowledge of data visualization – MicroStrategy, Tableau, PowerBI, Qlikview, D3js or similar tools.
  • Experience in MS Office products - Excel and PowerPoint skills required.
  • Proficiency in manipulating and extracting insights from large longitudinal data sources, such as Claims, EMR and other patient level data sets.
  • Expertise in managing and analyzing a range of large, secondary transactional databases is required.
  • Statistical analysis and modelling background
  • ML a plus
  • Experience with IQVIA data sets
  • Experience with data visualization methods and tools
  • Ability to derive, summarize and communicate insights from analyses.
  • Organization and time management skills
  • Knowledge of AZ brand and science is mandatory.
  • Should have Excellent Analytical, Problem-Solving ability. Should be able to grasp new concepts quickly

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a significant number of business leaders and cross-functional business partners.
  • Strategic and critical thinking with the ability to engage, build and maintain credibility with Commercial Leadership Team.
  • Strong organizational skills and time management; ability to manage diverse range of simultaneous projects.
  • Experience using Big Data, is a plus. Exposure to SPARK is desirable.
