To support this initiative, we are building Biologics Discovery Platform within the R&DIT. We're looking for an Engineering Lead who can build and manage teams of engineers developingcutting-edge data, AI, and software softwaresolutions.If youare someone who isa hands-on full stack engineer, technology enthusiast as well as a people manager, then this is the role for you!

  • Manage and develop teams of software engineersfoccussed on multipledomainswithin the platform

  • Responsible for designing and implementing software-based solutions to make our science easier to do, easier to learn from, and offer faster delivery and higher quality biologics and antibodies.

  • Design and build novel software and data products and enhance existing solutions to addresses challenges of biologics drug discovery with a focus on producing amazing user experiences that are more than the sum of their parts.

  • Collaborate with ML data science, bioinformaticians, and lab scientists’ teams to build cutting-edge experiences and services

  • Propose and implement changes to data models, core software architecture, and codebase that are ready for scale, highly secure, and cost optimized

  • Develop all levels of the technical stack in cloud even if you’re more experienced in some layers

  • Advocate and advance modern, agile software development practices and help develop and evangelize a vibrant software engineering culture

  • Support more junior/less experienced software engineers by mentoring, feedback, and hands-on career development

  • Collaborate in the transformation of an estate of siloed systems into an ecosystem that delivers great user experiences

  • Plan, implement and support core infrastructure with an overall objective to improve the scalability, reliability, performance, and availability

  • Advocate for rigorous engineering practices and discipline: code reviews, test-driven development, full Ci/CD with automated testing, logging, monitoring, alerting, etc.

  • Passionate to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community

  • Working with cutting edge technology stack in cloud environment and identifying opportunities for modernisation

  • Technically lead the team and act as an subject matter expert on all levels of the stack and SDLC.

  • Building a highly performant team by leading hiring, developing, and mentoring

  • Aligning, prioritising with product owner and other key stakeholders

Skills

The role requires senior-level technical skills, and we consider the below as essential capabilities:

  • Experience designing, implementing software applications in at least one backend programming language, e.g., Python, NodeJS, Java.

  • Experience building web app front ends using one of the web frameworks; e.g, Angular, React, VueJS.

  • Solid experience using relational databases and NoSQL databases with an emphasis on performance optimization techniques and handling big data

  • Experience in performance tuning SQL and building ETL pipelines for large scale data movement

  • Experience of data analysis – profiling, investigating, interpreting, and documenting data structures

  • Extensive experience in troubleshooting data issues, analyzing end to end data pipelines and in working with users in resolving issues

  • A Solid experience in consuming or exposing web services (i.e. REST, gRPC) using microservices and modular monolithic architecture.

  • Design, develop, and deploy production-grade scalable products and applications using container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Experience delivering CI/CD pipelines(Jenkins, ArgoCD, TravisCI) for multiple production applications.

  • Experience in creating and critically evaluating data architecture and multi-tier applications in the cloud

  • Excellent verbal and written skills for effective communication with a variety of personas including, engineers, testers, architects, product managers, business analysts, scientists, etc.

The following skills would be advantageous for your application but are not considered essential:

  • A background in Biology/Bioinformatics or related fields or experience working in a life science domain

  • Experience working in Agile environment within SCRUM teams

  • Experience building and deploying applications in AWS
