Responsibilities
Introduction to role:
This role is based in Barcelona, with an on-site commitment of three days a week. Fluency in English is required.
Are you ready to turn complex data into confident decisions that accelerate new cancer medicines to patients? In this role, you will be a key statistical partner across our oncology portfolio, shaping study designs, strengthening evidence, and elevating decision quality from preclinical research to late-stage development and beyond.
You will join a high-calibre statistical community that sits shoulder-to-shoulder with clinicians, translational scientists and data scientists. We blend academic rigor with real-world impact, backed by strong investment and a pipeline spanning multiple indications. Picture yourself influencing pivotal study designs today while building the tools, methods and practices that raise the bar for tomorrow.
Accountabilities:
- Study Design Leadership: Provide independent statistical support for standard study designs and interpretation, ensuring decisions are grounded in robust evidence and aligned to program goals.
- Complex Program Support: With guidance, design and analyse complex studies and contribute statistical strategy to broader programs, including preclinical work, regulatory packages, commercialization activities and high-level governance engagements.
- Decision Analytics: Under mentorship, synthesise internal and external data to inform key design decisions and decision criteria, enabling smarter, faster program choices.
- Modelling and Simulation: Apply simulation and modelling to stress-test design options, optimise sample sizes and assess the robustness and sensitivity of results.
- Statistical Analysis Plans: Develop high-quality Statistical Analysis Plans that anticipate critical decisions, data complexities and regulatory expectations.
Analytical Delivery and Visualisation: Produce analyses, graphics and tables for standard studies, supporting clinical and preclinical reports, medical affairs evidence and publications that move the science forward.
- Result Interpretation and Communication: Translate outputs into clear, decision-ready insights for multidisciplinary teams, highlighting risks, assumptions and next steps.
- Methodology and Process Improvement: Contribute practical methodological enhancements and process refinements that improve quality, speed and reproducibility.
- Best Practice Development: Help define and disseminate best practices to raise consistency, efficiency and effectiveness across teams.
- Quality Ownership: Take accountability for the quality of your statistical work, offering domain insight and constructive challenge while actively developing your skills and breadth.
- Progressive Impact: Deliver immediate value on active studies while building toward broader influence on program strategy, cross-functional decision-making and enterprise standards.
Essential Skills/Experience:
- MSc/PhD in Statistics, Mathematics (containing a substantial statistical component), or recognised equivalent to stats MSc.
- Competent statistical programmer (SAS and R).
- Knowledge of key technical and regulatory requirements.
- Experience of design, analysis and reporting of preclinical or clinical studies in more than one setting.
- Communication skills.
- Collaboration and team working skills.
Desirable Skills/Experience:
- Ability to apply statistical expertise to problems, problem solving and quality focus.
