Introduction to role

Are you ready to make a significant impact in the world of clinical trials? We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with over 7 years of experience to join our dynamic full-stack engineering team. In this role, you will be at the forefront of innovation, writing production code daily and integrating AI tools to enhance your development workflow. This is an opportunity to design, implement, and maintain backend services while contributing to frontend development and embedding AI capabilities into our product suite. You will also play a pivotal role in shaping how our team leverages AI, setting standards for AI-assisted coding and ensuring the quality of AI-generated code.

Accountabilities

Core Engineering

  • Design and build scalablemobile apps,backend services, RESTful APIs, and data streaming pipelines that meet the reliability and compliance requirements of clinical trial software.

  • Contribute tomobiledevelopmentmainlyacross ourNative apps using mainly Kotlin and Kotlin multiplatform andReact Nativefor our hybrid appswhen the work requires full-stackdevelopment.

  • Write clean, well-tested, production-ready code. Own the quality of your work end-to-end, from design through deployment and monitoring.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues. Analyze root causes and improve systems to prevent recurrence.

  • Collaborate with DevOps and Platform teams on infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployment and recovery.

AI-Native Development

  • Use AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, ClaudeCode, Cursor, or similar) as a daily part of your development workflow to accelerate velocity while maintaining high code quality.

  • Build agentic AI features into our products: design and implement LLM-powered workflows, intelligent automation, and AI-driven user experiences within the clinical trial platform.

  • Develop and share prompt engineering patterns, evaluation frameworks, and testing strategies for AI-integrated features.

  • Apply critical judgment to all AI-generated code. You are accountable for everything you commit, regardless of whether you or an AI tool wrote the first draft.

  • Contribute to the team’s evolving playbook for AI-assisted development, including when AI tools accelerate vs. when they introduce risk.

Collaboration & Mentorship

  • Participate actively in code reviews, providing substantive feedback that raises the quality bar for the team.

  • Collaborate with product owners, designers, and stakeholders to translate clinical requirements into well-engineered technical solutions.

  • Mentor other engineers, particularly in AI-assisted development practices and modern development workflows.

  • Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives.

Essential Skills/Experience

  • +7years of professional software engineering experience shipping production systems.

  • +5 years of professional mobile software engineering working with Android. With Java or Kotlin-Kotlin multiplatform 

  • Proficiency in at least one backend language (Java,Kotlin and node.js)orfrontend technologies (TypeScript).

  • Experience building and operating RESTful APIs, with solid understanding of HTTP, JSON, andOpenAPIspecifications.

  • Experience with document-based storage (MongoDB or similar).

  • Practical, daily experience using AI-assisted development tools in your own coding workflow. You should be able to articulate how AI tools change the way you design, write, test, and review code.

  • Experience building or integrating AI/LLM features into production applications (not just experimentation or prototypes).

  • Proficiency with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, or similar).

  • Experience with AWS cloud services.

  • Strong testing discipline: unit testing, integration testing, and BDD frameworks (Cucumber or similar).

  • Familiarity with regulated or compliance-sensitive software development environments.

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Experience building agentic AI systems, including multi-step LLM workflows, tool use, and evaluation/observability for AI features.

  • Experience with clinical trial software,eCOA, or healthcare/life sciences technology.

  • Familiarity withGxPor SaMD validation processes.

  • Experience designing solutions for complex projects within large organizations.

  • Contributions to open-source projects or visible technical thought leadership.

Hiring process 

We value your time and aim to provide a clear, efficient, and transparent experience. Our process includes three steps: 

  • HR Conversation – A brief introduction to Evinova, the role, and your background. 
  • Culture & Team Fit – A conversation with the hiring manager focused on ways of working, expectations, and alignment with our engineering culture. 
  • Technical Assessment – A 90minute, handson session where you will share your screen and walk us through a solution you have previously built. Any previously completed solution is valid, as long as it compiles and runs and you feel proud to showcase in a job interview.  We’ll discuss your design and architectural decisions, explore relevant parts of the code, and ask you to implement changes during the session. You may use AI tools just as you normally would in your daily workflow.We are evaluating your reasoning, coding approach, and how effectively you collaborate with AI tools.
