About the Operations IT Team:
Operations IT is a global IT capability supporting the Global Operations organisation. We business partner with Operations capability areas: Pharmaceutical Technology Development, Manufacturing & Global Engineering, Quality Control, Sustainability, Supply Chain, Logistics and Global External Sourcing and Procurement. We operate out of Operations hub sites including in the UK, Sweden, US, and China; and out of our Global Technology Centres in India and Mexico.

Introduction to the role:
We are looking for aDF Platform Ownerto join our Data, Analytics & AI group for Operations IT. This group supports various business areas such as Develop, Manufacture, Supply Chain, Quality and Procurement with data-driven solutions and insights.
As the DF Platform Owner for Data & Analytics, you will be responsible for leading development, delivery and maintenance of the data & analytics platforms, infrastructure and innovating by bringing in thought leadership on technology partnering with on business on proof of concepts and pilots.
You will define the strategy for the platforms, create the frameworks and standards, gather the requirements, and successfully ensure delivery of platforms and within these platforms.
You will collaborate with stakeholders across AstraZeneca to improve visibility of the services we provide within the data foundation team.
Accountabilities:
Leadership & Strategy
Provide strategic leadership to a team of talented engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation, and enabling people to be at their best.
Guide the development, execution, and implementation of a roadmaps for data foundation platforms.
Assess current state of platforms, define future state needs, identifygaps and recommend new technology solutions and strategic business execution improvements and support product roadmap development consistent with the overall strategic needs.
Understand data mesh and data product WoW, apply technology and tools to improve data product WoW.
Data Analytics and AI Platforms
Oversee the design, implementation, and optimization of robust DataFoundation services and platforms to ensure delivery.
PlatformOps (Environment management, Infrastructure provisioning, upgrades and monitoring, Capacity Planning and 3rd line support).
FinOps (Workload optimisation, Finance management - MTP, Budget, Chargeback, licences management, contract renewals).
Manage and optimize the technology stack, ensuring alignment with security, architecture, compliance, and performance standards,
Provide technical knowledge of engineering principles and their application to developing reliable and high-quality Data & Analytics platforms that satisfy customer needs and business requirements.
Ensure the creation and maintenance of comprehensive documentation, including standard operating procedures, user guides and best practices.
Ensure automation is at the heart of our processes and technologies to ensure effective and responsive delivery timeframes.
Work on funding proposals describing vale and ROI in return for internal investment.
Innovation
Drive innovation by staying informed about technology trends and thought leadership. Collaborate with business stakeholders on proof of concepts and pilots.
Identify opportunities for innovation and promote initiatives to enhance the data foundation platform's capabilities and efficiency.
Team Development
Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
Provide guidance on technical challenges and ensure professional development opportunities for team members.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Act as a liaison between IT and Business Units, fostering strong communication and understanding.
Oversight of partnerships with multiple third parties, academic or outsourced partners to shape and drive project outcomes and knowledge building.
Partner with enterprise platform teams and architecture to ensure alignment and influence stakeholders to align with our requirements, technology and functionality.
Quality Assurance
Implement and oversee robust quality assurance processes to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and security of data.
Establish and monitor key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of the data foundationplatforms.
Essential Skills/Experience:
Extensive experience in implementation & management of data, analytics & AI platforms.
Extensive experience in CloudOps, DevOps, DataOps and infrastructure setup and maintenance
Strong knowledge of BI landscape, data warehouse solutions, including cloud data warehouses such e.g. Snowflake etc.
Strong experience with cloud platforms and services, e.g. AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders and experience with Agile development methodologies
Influencer and negotiator who can align executives and senior stakeholders to a shared vision and roadmap with compelling communications & presentations regardless of the chosen medium.
A passion for technology and continuous improvement.
A solid understanding of data management concepts.
Strategic thinking – understanding challenges, opportunities through evolving technology/methodology and formulating into tangible roadmaps with clear business value.
Leadership abilities, with a proven history of continually growing and motivating teams
Experience writing, executing, scheduling SQL queries.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience in Data Foundation technologies (e.g., Snowflake, dbt,Data Catalogue (e.g., Collibra), Data Quality (e.g. monte Carlo) & integration tools like Fivetran, snaplogic, Qlikreplicate.)
Desirable Skills/Experience:
Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry, particularly around data requirements and compliance standards (GXP, GDPR, SoX etc).
High project management skills, including the ability to plan multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver good outcomes.
