Responsibilities
Location: Barcelona, Spain (On-site): We require 3 days working from the office and 2 days working from home.
The AstraZeneca Hub in Barcelona is the first co-located Research and Development Center that houses global teams across all of AstraZeneca's and Alexion’s therapy areas. It will become one of Europe's largest hubs of clinical excellence and innovation, fostering collaboration and opening new opportunities in the BioPharma and digital ecosystems locally, regionally, and globally. Up to 1,000 people are expected to be recruited by 2025, with more than 850 already onboarded between AstraZeneca and Alexion. The Internal & External Communications Specialist will support the implementation of the internal and external communications strategy, enhancing employee engagement and building the external reputation of the Hub.
Internally, the Internal & External Comms. Specialist will:
- Implement and monitor the development of the internal communications plan in support of culture objectives and priorities
- Help increase employee engagement and understanding of business priorities, company culture, values and behaviours.
- Support in the organization of internal events (announcement on different channels, on-site support when necessary, post-event communications)
- Design specific graphic materials for internal communications.
- Create and update corporate materials such as slide decks or infographics.
Externally, the role helps:
- Build external reputation of the HUB, along the AZ strategy, sharing AZ messages.
- Implement major communications campaigns or global strategies, alongside with policies and strategies within own country.
The role reports to Internal & External Hub Communications Manager for the Barcelona Global Hub who belongs to the Comms Spanish team and closely collaborates with the rest of the communications team in Spain and other locations to ensure alignment and application of best practice in communications across the Site.
Typical Accountabilities
- Implement key activities to enhance employee engagement.
- Ensure that internal communications are delivered as planned, ensuring they are continuous, consistent, and distributed through appropriate channels.
- Support the building of AstraZeneca’s employer brand in Barcelona.
- Engage with key local journalists in trade media and general media (print, TV, and radio).
- Provide feedback on audience needs and issues to influence corporate deliverables and identify new opportunities.
- Create and adapt specific graphic communication materials.
Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communication (journalism)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, team participation, detail orientation skills
- Knowledge of internal and external communication channels
- Knowledge of Graphic Design tools (Illustrator, Photosop paquete Adobe)
- Fluent in English as the AstraZeneca working language for both verbal and written skills
- Proven ability to work independently, and remotely, with little direction.
Desirable:
- Professional communication experience with experience in science / technology, healthcare and/or pharmaceutical communication
- Experience in working in global and matrix business environment
- Knowledge of and experience in change communications
- Understanding of the external communications environment
- Ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments
