Location: Barcelona - Spain (3 days working from the office and 2 days working from home)

The  Global Scientific Training Director – CVRM will report into the Global Medical Capabilities lead on the Global Medical Excellence & Ethics team and own the launch readiness learning strategy for Global Medical and Field Medical teams in BioPharmaceuticals Medical. Partnering across the TA and markets, this role will convert medical strategy and launch plans into role-based curricula and scenario-based practice to build knowledge and capability in the pre-launch space. The Director will be aligned to lead training across several brands, liaise with subject matter experts, and collaborate with Global and Local Medical Affairs Leaders and Scientific Communications colleagues to produce engaging and impactful learning experiences supporting the overall medical strategy and vision. The Director will also collaborate with MSL Excellence & Performance, local Medical Excellence as well as Global Medical Capabilities partners to identify and develop skills training to enhance customer engagement and drive performance. The Director will utilize AI-enabled tools to deliver individualized learning to ensure learning application and behaviour change, and measure the impact of these experiences. 

Core Accountabilities

  • Strategic leadership and performance consulting: Define the global learning strategy for launch brands, assess training needs based on available data and insights, and recommend the right training solutions to drive performance, cause change and achieve pre-launch outcomes. 

  • Therapeutic area curricula development: Build a holistic learning experience spanning disease state, patient journey, therapeutic landscape, and evidence (pre-clinical, clinical, real-world), plus capabilities/skills training to communicate and apply the science effectively and drive brand and field strategy and execution. Use AI tools for asset creation as well as skills development.  

  • Content development and vendor management: Direct internal/external suppliers to produce innovative, interactive, and blended learning content, while creating supplemental content in-house utilizing AI-enabled tools. 

  • Learning experience innovation: Leverage adult learning principles and AI-enabled technology to deliver effective and meaningful learning experiences, alongside the design of novel training solutions to bolster learner engagement, learning transfer and behavior change.  

  • Communication excellence and change management: Communicate with global and local collaborators and learners to ensure awareness and adoption. Collaborate across Medical Excellence, BioPharmaceuticals Medical, Business Units, and functions such as Commercial and Market Access teams to identify and benefit from synergies across the organization. 

  • Content management: Maintain a content management strategy so training assets remain current and globally accessible. 

  • Business impact measurement: Establish metrics and feedback loops to determine business impact and drive continuous improvement. 

  • Budget stewardship: Manage TA training budgets. 

  • Travel: Travel as needed (e.g., pre-congress training and key live training events). 

Required education, experience & skills

  • Education: Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, or Master’s in Health Sciences) or Bachelor’s with substantial clinical/scientific experience. 

  • Industry experience: 5–7 years in biopharma, including global and local Medical Affairs (both field and HQ).  

  • Training expertise: Learning and Development experience with proven ability to design and deliver Medical/Scientific training grounded in adult learning principles for effective on the job application.  

  • Strategy and execution: Strong strategic thinking with the ability to translate medical strategy into training deliverables; competence in prioritization and project management. 

  • Collaboration and communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills, relationship-building, cross-functional collaboration, influencing without authority, and clear, audience-centered communication and storytelling. Ability to be a key strategic partner to the TA/Disease Area/Brand.  

Desired education, experience & skills

  • Medical Affairs depth: Experience spanning clinical development, global launch readiness, and field medical. 

  • Digital innovation: Advanced digital literacy; proficiency with AI-enabled tools. 

  • Change leadership: Experience in change management in a complex environment.
