With rapidly changing payer ecosystems and increasingly constrained health budgets, significant innovative thinking is required to develop and implement best-in-class price & market strategies to ensure patients have access to our medicines. We are seeking a Global Pricing Lead to join AstraZeneca’s Global Market Access and Pricing (GMAP) function to support our CardioVascular, Renal & Metabolic (CVRM) portfolio.
Location: Barcelona - Spain (3 days working from the office and 2 days working from home)
Description
The purpose of this role is to optimize the implementation of price & market access strategies of AZ brands by supporting reimbursement decisions at a local, regional, and global level.
The Pricing Implementation Lead will work in close collaboration with the Pricing Director and GMAP team. The role will provide support across all brands in the CVRM portfolio. The Lead will take on a lead role for specific European markets (including MFN countries) as well as international markets and support/lead specific GMAP or regional projects and initiatives.
Accountabilities/responsibilities
Develop and maintain information and insights into the P&R environment of the allocated countries
Co-Create and develop solutions with PMADs, markets and key stakeholders to operate and launch products in an MFN market environment seeking access, help policy shape and explore alternative access models in case public funding is not attainable
Liaise with Market Access & Government Affairs teams to build evidence that helps optimise pricing and market access policy environment on country and product levels (provide recommendations on optimal reference baskets, cross-country implications of local cost containment measures, innovative access solutions and policy changes/priorities in post MFN environment)
Liaise with other GPI team members and GMAP and broader business to provide advise on MFN developments, reporting requirements, data analytics
Manage the operational pricing and access strategy implementation for AZ brands in CVRM
Ensure an appropriate pricing policy and governance processes are followed to ensure pricing and access strategies are implemented and monitor compliance to this
Provide forward-looking analysis and insights into the future of price assumptions for CVRM brands
Launch brands:
Use this expertise to provide country specific input to Global pricing policies for new product launches of CVRM brands - with a focus on representing a global perspective, considering current MFN framework, reaching beyond the International markets in terms of international price referencing, launch sequencing and other broader pricing challenges.
Lead execution of pricing and market access strategies in collaboration with GMAP team and regional teams: Establish Launch Sequence in an MFN environment, target prices and negotiation strategies to optimize pricing and reimbursement conditions in the assigned markets and across the region
In-Market brands:
Review and optimize business cases submitted by markets. Perform cross-country impact analysis of proposed price changes, including MFN considerations, and manage risk by identifying mitigating strategies
Support MCs in addressing pricing and access negotiation challenges
Support the GMAP, BBU and Regional Leadership: prepare recommendations on pricing business cases. Pre-empt analysis on major business cases (pan-regional or across CVRM portfolio). Assess risk and opportunities of future developments in the Pricing and Market Access environment
Support GPI team and region with impact analysis from assigned markets and support the development of sound decision making beyond the regional and market perspective
Monitor realized impact of the endorsed pricing actions to modify future decision making
Pricing Center of Excellence
Liaise with Market Access & Government Affairs teams to build evidence that helps optimize pricing and market access on country and product level (e.g. provide recommendations on optimal reference baskets, cross-country implications of local cost containment measures, etc.)
In coordination with GMAP and regional access teams, support innovative pricing skills in the organization, pilot innovative pricing models and drive knowledge of this across markets and brands and regions
Influence AZ strategic decisions based on our pricing expertise in analytical and market access projects (e.g. pricing policies of AZ brands, pack rationalization, country risk assessment)
Monitor the pricing policies for existing brands to determine if a policy refresh is required and lead the work of pricing policies review of CVRM brands
Pricing Infrastructure:
Ensure AZ governance tool (PRICE) is used consistently and seek to enhance it further
Operate and seek to enhance further pricing models (Global/regional launch sequence, reference pricing)
Lead infrastructure projects aiming at sharing and improving the team technical know&how
Ensure markets are fully engaged in the use of PRICE and provide accurate and timely information and assumptions.
Experience and track record
Essential:
Extensive experience in the pharmaceutical industry in business related roles
Experience in executing price strategies, developing launch sequences and negotiation strategies for local payer negotiations.
Understanding of pricing, legal, regulatory and reimbursement issues across key markets and their impact
Ability to handle complex problem solving (involving many decision-makers and multiple, creative solutions)
Fluency in English
Desirable:
In market or Finance experience
Clinical and/or health economics and outcomes research experience
Negotiating experience with payers
