We are seeking a Director, Channel Strategy, EUCAN (Europe + Canada) & International to help shape the future of integrated channel strategy across priority markets.

This is a strategic role for someone who can look across the full channel ecosystem and translate business priorities into clear, connected recommendations. Your Accountabilities

  • Lead integrated channel strategy across EUCAN and International markets, creating frameworks and recommendations that connect paid, owned, earned, and emerging digital channels in support of business objectives as part of our Customer 2030 initiative

  • Shape omnichannel planning approaches that help brands and markets move from channel-specific decision-making to more connected, customer journey-based planning.

  • Partner across cross-functional teams, including regional and market stakeholders, brand teams, analytics, media, web, content, and customer experience leaders, to align channel strategy with portfolio and brand priorities.

  • Provide strategic guidance on how AstraZeneca’s digital presence should evolve in response to changing customer behavior, AI-powered discovery, search evolution, and the growing importance of trusted, authoritative, and well-structured content.

  • Establish standards, playbooks, and governance principles that improve the consistency, quality, and scalability of channel planning across markets with varying levels of digital maturity.

  • Support strategic planning and investment decisions by advising on channel mix, prioritization, and budget allocation based on customer needs, market dynamics, and business goals.

  • Define measurement frameworks and KPIs in partnership with analytics and marketing sciences teams to assess the impact of integrated channel strategy and enable data-driven optimization.

  • Identify innovation opportunities across the evolving channel landscape, including media models, digital experiences, content distribution approaches, and AI-enabled engagement capabilities.

  • Work across internal teams and agency partners to improve operating models, align objectives, and strengthen integrated execution across initiatives with a channel component.

  • Drive knowledge sharing and capability building by promoting best practices and helping raise channel strategy maturity across regions and markets.

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Significant experience in channel strategy, paid media, web, customer engagement, or related disciplines

  • Proven success leading cross-functional, multi-market, or global strategic programs in a complex matrixed organization

  • Strong understanding of how channels work together across the customer journey, including experience spanning areas such as media strategy, web strategy, search, content ecosystems, and digital customer engagement

  • Specific experience in media strategy and planning, demonstrating the ability to plan across multi-market activities, bringing together the various teams across creative, operations and other disciplines

  • Demonstrated experience translating complex business and customer needs into clear, integrated strategic recommendations

  • Strong background in measurement and performance evaluation, including KPI development, optimization approaches, and use of data to guide decisions

  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and facilitation skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders and align diverse partners

  • Experience working effectively across teams with different levels of digital sophistication and market maturity

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience in a regulated industry, preferably healthcare, life sciences, or pharmaceuticals

  • Understanding of AI-enabled discovery, evolving search behaviors, and how authoritative content and digital signals influence visibility and trust

  • Familiarity with integrated planning across paid, owned, and earned channels

  • Experience working with agencies, analytics partners, and cross-functional commercial teams in multinational environments

  • Knowledge of tools and approaches used in digital analytics, media measurement, web performance, dashboarding, and strategic planning

  • Experience in Semrush, Adobe Analytics and other performance marketing tools

  • Experience building frameworks, playbooks, or governance models that support enterprise or regional adoption

Core Competencies

  • Integrated strategic thinking

  • Cross-market leadership

  • Data-driven decision making

  • Influence and collaboration

  • Innovation mindset

  • Compliance and governance orientation
