Responsibilities
Role Barcelona onsite - 3 days at the office/ 2 days at home.
Evinova is a leading health tech company enabling global life sciences to accelerate better health outcomes, by creating AI-native digital health solutions for clinical research. We are a separate business within the AstraZeneca group.
We’re hiring a Content Design Lead to join Evinova’s Barcelona-based team operating at the intersection of AI, digital health, and clinical innovation. Evinova is an AI-first company, and the content we craft — the words, guidance and structure inside our products — is central to making complex clinical software clear, usable and trustworthy. This is not a conventional content design role: we’re building something new, and we need content design leaders who are ready to do the same.
Our context is defined by overlapping transformations. On one side, artificial intelligence is fundamentally reshaping how we work — augmenting creativity, accelerating collaboration between disciplines, and creating new ways to explore, design, test, and refine ideas, at pace. On the other side, the solution spaces we work in — clinical trials execution, study design and document authoring — are also shifting rapidly, driven by new data streams, AI-powered automation, and innovative approaches to running clinical trials.
As a Content Design Lead, you’ll set the direction and quality bar for content design and content strategy across the team, shaping how we use language, structure and tone to make complex clinical software clear and trustworthy. You’ll also stay hands-on, doing content design work yourself on our most important experiences, not purely managing.
You’ll own Evinova’s Content Design Guidance document and keep it up to date as our products, patterns and standards evolve, and you’ll partner closely with the Product team to shape experiences end-to-end, with the Translation and Localization team to ensure our content works across languages and markets, and with the Content Delivery team to get the right content into the product efficiently. As an AI-first company, we expect you to be forward-thinking about how AI can expedite the content design process while simultaneously raising quality standards, noting that accessibility and inclusive design are central to all our work.
This role requires a mindset that is not daunted by ambiguity or complexity. The evolving world of clinical trial product design encompasses a wide variety of user profiles and multi-step workflows that unfold over long periods of time and demand an incredibly high bar for quality. Success also means carrying a deep awareness of the regulatory and ethical requirements that are not only considerations for our content design responsibilities but also for those who use our tools.
We’re looking for a:
- Deeply collaborative, T-shaped content designer who can lead or do the work themselves (depending on the need in the moment) across the full range of content design — from UX writing and information design to content standards and guidelines — and run cross-functional working sessions to upskill product, design, and localization peers so they are also informed on how to create clear, consistent content.
- Highly autonomous, self-directed leader who acts with positive agency: seeking out new opportunities for collaboration, proactively navigating ambiguity, and shaping new practices as the context evolves.
- Content designer with AI fluency, not necessarily a technical expert, but someone who has experience in and is deeply curious and excited about working with generative and agentic AI as part of the content design process.
- Leader who thrives on complexity, balancing near-term delivery with long-term vision, and who is energised by change and challenge rather than constrained by them.
This is a chance to help define not just the future of digital health, but the future of digital design in a world where the boundaries between people, tools, and disciplines are being redrawn in real time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the direction and quality standards for content design across the team, guiding other content designers’ work and staying hands-on with content design yourself on our most critical flows.
- Own and continuously maintain Evinova’s Content Design Guidance document, keeping our tone of voice, terminology, content patterns and standards current as our products and the regulatory landscape evolve.
- Create, improve and manage user-centred content that meets user needs.
- Partner closely with the Product team to understand and shape end-to-end experiences, ensuring content is considered from the earliest stages of product definition.
- Partner with a range of specialists including UX designers, researchers and developers in service of the product.
- Collaborate with the Translations and Localization team on content management and translation best practices and to extend the Evinova Content Design Guidance across languages and markets.
- Work with the Content Delivery team to get the right content into the product accurately, efficiently, often against tight deadlines.
- Identify and build strong relationships with a wider team of stakeholders including the training team and legal.
- Champion AI-first ways of working, including identifying and embedding opportunities to use AI to expedite the content design process while simultaneously raising quality, from drafting and editing to consistency checks and content operations, while ensuring that AI processes retain a human-in-the-loop approach.
- Translate highly technical, multi-step clinical workflows into clear, usable content, including in-product microcopy, guidance and supporting documentation, that works for each of our user groups: patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals and pharma company team members.
- Use product data, user research and usability testing to inform design decisions and improve content.
- Stimulate conceptual thinking and creativity and challenge the status quo towards continuous improvement.
- Establish and support a systematic approach for integrating content design patterns into our Evinova Design System.
- Mentor and develop content designers, fostering a culture of innovation, quality and continuous improvement within the team.
Essential Attributes:
- Extensive experience in content design and UX writing, including leading content for complex, multi-step digital products end-to-end.
- Designs content inclusively as standard, considering the user needs of the full range of people who will use the product, including edge cases.
- A track record of setting content strategy, standards and guidelines — such as content design guidance, voice and tone, and terminology — and raising quality across a team.
- Native or bilingual speaker with exemplary command of both written and spoken English combined with the ability to communicate with sophistication and clarity.
- Experience of partnering with product, design, localization and engineering to ship consistent content at scale.
- Practical fluency in applying AI to content workflows — using generative and agentic AI to expedite drafting, editing and content operations while raising quality and sharing best practice.
- Strong commitment to inclusive design, accessibility, and usability, and to delivering outcomes using key metrics.
- Excellent collaboration, and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
- Experience balancing hands-on craft with oversight of others’ work — and able to both do the work and lift the quality of the team’s output
- Based in Barcelona, with willingness to collaborate in-office with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to operate at pace and navigate changes in scope and approach based on shifting market signals and customer demand, while keeping up with evolving technology.
- Ability to work with ambiguity and to context switch across multiple projects. Adaptable to changing priorities and deadlines.
We also value:
- Experience in healthcare and/or digital health sectors.
- Familiarity with clinical trials and the drug development lifecycle.
- Experience designing content for regulated products, with awareness of the relevant regulatory and ethical requirements.
- A non-linear career path and diverse life experiences that enrich your perspective as a designer.
- A second language (and every additional language is a plus).
