We are looking for an Associate Director Data Engineer/Scientist to join our Predictive AI & Data team. This role is crucial in driving positive disruptive transformation, turning complex information into life-changing insights. Here, you will have the opportunity to work with leading experts and be part of novel solutions. Accountabilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for delivering fit-for-purpose solutions to our CPSS (Clinical Pharmacology & Safety Science) colleagues, using enterprise infrastructure and technology, where possible, aligned with AZ’s “Bold Ambition” initiative for 2030. Your tasks will include receiving requirements from stakeholders, prototyping solutions which meet those requirements, leading the delivery (including test and release) of those solutions and collaborating closely with our colleagues in R&D IT as well as the AI and Bioinformatics groups. You will collaborate with colleagues across the globe, predominantly with our colleagues in Sweden, United Kingdom and United States of America.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Relevant graduate degree: Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or Engineering 

  • Experience delivering solutions across key elements of the data and analytics domain

  • Great interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to delivery

  • Ability to communicate effectively with different audiences (written and spoken) in English

  • Ability to understand business needs and translate them into a solution

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills, with a keen attention to detail

  • Strong data analysis, data visualization and data engineering skills

  • Experience in developing data pipelines (Nextflow, SnakeMake, Airflow, etc.)

  • Strong programming skills in Python or similar programming languages

  • Experience in Unix, SQL databases, cloud computing (AWS), and HPC (High Performance Computing)

  • Experience in machine learning, AI and statistical data analysis

  • Familiarity with professional software engineering practices and tools (version control, CI/CD, tests)

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Familiarity with data visualisation tools such as PowerBI, Spotfire, Rshiny, Python Dash or Flask, Streamlit

  • Experience architecting data platforms and data driven solutions

  • Familiarity with agile methodologies, particularly SCRUM and SAFe as well as Kanban

  • Experience in data processing, analysis and visualization of data related to the drug development process, particularly pre-clinical

  • Experience in data processing and analysis of omics data and bioinformatics in general

  • Experience in developing methods and algorithms in the data and analytics domain
