The Connected Insights digital product delivery service is an internal, high-profile, bespoke data & AI service built in collaboration with our in-house competitive intelligence professionals. It is transforming how competitive intelligence is created, disseminated and consumed across AstraZeneca into a rich, digital, interconnected and on-demand experience.
Using data pipelines, knowledge graphs, interactive visualisations and AI, we seek to integrate key external and internal data sources, generate complex interactive information, and transform how our teams of competitive intelligence professionals create and share insights. Introduction to role
Are you ready to disrupt an industry and change lives? We are seeking a versatile AI Engineer with a strong product mindset to join our Connected Insights team at AstraZeneca. In this dynamic role, you will actively work on cutting-edge AI projects while leading the development and deployment of AI-driven products, delivering impactful business and competitive intelligence insights. Collaborate with stakeholders and Product Leads to understand requirements, develop customized AI solutions, and partner with external AI companies where required. Accountabilities
- Agentic AI Development: Build and test agentic AI systems and tools, directly addressing competitive analysis challenges for strategy teams.
- Process Automation: Automate complex data analysis workflows to enhance efficiency and accuracy across projects.
- Innovation and Partnerships: Introduce advanced AI technologies and lead collaborations with external AI companies to integrate innovative solutions.
- Product Leadership: Oversee the lifecycle of AI-driven products, ensuring alignment with stakeholder expectations and driving successful deployment.
- Technical and Design Collaboration: Partner with the Software Engineering Lead to develop our approach to AI-led software development for improved speed and quality, and work closely with the UX Team to transform product design with AI, enhancing user experience.
- Agile Framework Collaboration: Work within an agile framework and in cross-functional teams to align AI solutions with business goals.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage internal stakeholders and external partners for the successful delivery of AI solutions.
- Model Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize AI models to improve accuracy and efficiency, ensuring they are scalable, reliable, and well-maintained.
- Ethical Standards Compliance: Ensure AI models adhere to ethical standards, privacy regulations, and fairness guidelines.
Essential Skills/Experience
- Relevant graduate degree: Computer Science, Engineering, or AI.
- Minimum of 5 years of applied experience in software engineering, data science, machine learning, or relevant field.
- Demonstrate a strong product mindset by prioritising outcomes, balancing technical innovation with business value, and driving solutions that are both impactful and market-ready.
- Strong experience working in an Agile team with knowledge or experience of working in product focused delivery.
- Hands-on experience building Agentic AI systems and deploying them to production.
- Experience building and delivering software using the Python programming language, exceptional ability in other programming languages will be considered.
- AI framework experience, such as LangChain, etc.
- Experience in RAG, vector databases.
- An understanding of LLMs / Foundation models technologies.
- Demonstratable experience working with AWS or a similar cloud environment.
- Experience working with container-based application deployments.
- Experience in software development best practices.
