AstraZeneca is a global, science-led, patient-focused biopharmaceutical company that focuses on the discovery, development and commercialization of life-changing medicines across numerous therapeutic areas.

The Regulatory Technology & Excellence (RTE) function resides within Oncology R&D, but retains a vast global remit (e.g., Regulatory Operations, Regulatory Systems, Process & Compliance, Labelling & Artwork, Digital, etc.) which spans all AstraZeneca therapeutic areas.

RTE seeks a visionary and strategic Digital Product Owner to join our dynamic Regulatory Digital team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our digital products, ensuring they align with our business goals, and deliver exceptional value to our users. This position requires a deep understanding of digital product management, a knack for simply translating business needs into technical requirements, and an unwavering commitment to continuous improvement.

As a Regulatory Digital Product Director, you will work collaboratively with business stakeholders and IT to drive the delivery and development of digital solutions aligned to R&D transformation priorities.   You represent business stakeholder interests and are accountable for maximizing the value of the digital products developed. To this end you will:

Key Responsibilities

Product Vision and Strategy

  • Develop and articulate a clear product vision and strategy that aligns with the business' overall objectives.
  • Engage with stakeholders across the organization to gather insights and feedback, ensuring the product roadmap reflects business priorities and user needs.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to inform product decisions and maintain a competitive edge for both assigned products as well as contribute across the broader digital products portfolio.

Product Development and Management

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Regulatory, R&D, Operations, Marketing Companies and IT to drive product development from concept to launch.
  • Create and prioritize the product backlog, ensuring that features deliver the strongest tangible value and align with strategic goals.
  • Define and communicate detailed user stories and acceptance criteria to guide the development team.
  • Oversee the product development lifecycle, including planning (sprints and resources), reviews, and retrospectives, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products that deliver expected value.
  • Support rollout and implementation of digital products, identifying training approaches tailored to teams and user groups.
  • Identify short- and long-term resource requirements to effectively implement, govern and control the digital products.
  • Manage dependencies in and across releases to complete release phases and milestones.
  • Drive continuous improvement of digital products to maintain business relevance and maximize ongoing business value.

User-Centric Approach

  • Advocate for the end-user by conducting user research, usability testing, and gathering feedback to inform product enhancements.
  • Work closely with key business SMEs, process owners and training experts to ensure effective user training and preparation for impacts to existing business processes.
  • Analyze user behavior and engagement metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and optimize the user experience.
  • Ensure that products are accessible, intuitive, and meet the highest standards of usability and performance.

Data-Driven Decision Making

  • Leverage data analytics and market research to make informed product decisions and measure the impact of new features and enhancements.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track product success and drive continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular product performance reviews and present findings to stakeholders, making data-driven recommendations for future iterations.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Degree in Computer Science, Life Sciences, Business, or a related field. An advanced degree is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar role in a digital product development environment.  Life Sciences experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability in leveraging AI and GenAI to drive business value.
  • Strong technical background with a deep understanding of software development processes and methodologies.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, with a track record of successfully delivering digital products.
