As an Associate Director, Market Access Business Alignment in Wilmington, DE you’ll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients’ lives. North American Commercial is the ‘face’ of AstraZeneca to our many healthcare clients. They represent many of the most well recognized and respected products in the industry, and build strong relationships with healthcare professionals.

The Market Access Associate Director, Business Alignment supports the Market Access Vice President, providing day-to-day leadership support of the Market Access strategies, priorities and activities aligned to the full US portfolio (BBU and OBU). The Market Access Associate Director, Business Alignment also plays a pivotal role in managing the overall departmental scorecard; tracking of US Market Access key performance indicators: US Market Access budget; Market Access Vice President’s external and internal presentations; internal meeting content and agenda: serves as the secretariat of US Market Access Leadership Team; and handles the cadence of department wide communications.

The Associate Director, Business Alignment will represent the Market Access Leadership Team to provide strategic project management on key Market Access initiatives to ensure they are aligned to US Market Access Priorities. The role also serves as the department liaison across functions such a medical, operations, IT, corporate affairs, and access strategy.


The Market Access Associate Director, Business Alignment is responsible for:

Leadership Support:

  • Plan and develop agendas, draft meeting communications, and provide follow-up for Market Access Leadership Team Meetings
  • Ensure VP’s preparation for quarterly business reviews and industry meetings
  • Represent Market Access at cross-functional business meetings
  • Work closely with customer facing teams to ensure alignment of initiatives and scheduling
  • Oversight of Market Access scorecard, including working with Market Access leadership to create quarterly updates


  • Create/manage communications across Market Access, including:
  • Communications strategy on behalf of the SVP aligned to the needs of key partners
  • Quarterly Market Access Forum preparation
  • Market Access interdepartmental meeting coordination
  • Weekly Market Access newsletter

Strategic Project Management:

  • Support and represent Market Access leadership on strategic projects to achieve key business objectives
  • Manage project and program planning for cross- functional Market Access initiatives and programs
  • Handle complex projects and use extensive network to solve organizational issues
  • Coordinate the integration and facilitation of initiatives and key interfaces across Market Access, Sales, Brand leadership teams and Commercial Operations
  • Work collaboratively across the commercial organization and Market Access leadership to ensure cross-commercial alignment and execution

  • Executive and team leaders across organizations strategically aligned with Market Access including Brands, Insight, Legal, Medical Affairs, SGA and Corporate Affairs
  • Customer facing Teams/Account Directors
  • Customer industry associations and organizations

Requirements (Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience)


  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5+ years in the pharmaceutical industry; preferably with diversified experience in Sales/Sales leadership, Marketing and Analytics, and/or Sales Training
  • Experience and familiarity with Market Access
  • Experience in leadership roles
  • Shown success with critical thinking and effective decision-making
  • Experience in presenting to large teams with senior members
  • Project/program management expertise and high attention to detail
  • Excellent informal and formal communications skills, including presenting to groups of senior leaders
  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple projects and initiatives
  • Ability to lead without authority
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across groups of diverse backgrounds and skills
