Description:
The Director, Analytics and Insights is responsible for defining and leading projects that provide data-driven insights to business decision makers to help develop business intelligence, optimize efficiency and/or predict multiple business outcomes. The role will lead and deliver the development of analytical data solutions to support the Process, Quality and Learning strategies and ensure they are enabling through the identification, analysis and interpretation of trends. The role will lead and deliver the preparation and effective communication of ongoing reports and data visualizations to aid in data storytelling. You will influence a range of internal partners and lead external collaborations and vendors to deliver effective solutions.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
Lead and deliver the design and implementation of analytical and data visualization solutions crafted to drive the interrogation of datasets for insights in multiple scientific and business application areas. Design may employ the use of dedicated business intelligence applications and/or cloud services but may also use the reporting capabilities of existing ERP, CRM and/or database software vendors and analytical software such as R, Python, Matlab, and others. These solutions may also require exploratory and predictive analytic statistical models for ongoing and ad hoc review and analysis of data.
Captures requirements from partners; Process Quality & Learning, Development Operations and Therapeutic Area teams to develop solutions
Builds data pipelines (Extract Transform and Load) for systems not accessible via R&D data foundations (marts)
Researches data sources and develops gap closure plan to meet analytics needs
Using deep domain-specific understanding, translates business problem statements into the appropriate analytics problem and solutions across multiple projects
Develop effective relationships with senior partners to ensure utilization and value of information resources and services in multiple projects
Identify, collate, review and report related metrics and trends periodically, raising priority items, where vital. Identify continuous and improvement opportunities and steering their implementation, where vital
Responsible for exploratory, descriptive and predictive data analytics to multiple multi-functional projects and drive delivery of solutions
Responsible for multiple visualizations and tools to support and deliver analytical solutions
Responsible for ensuring project results are clearly defined and delivered within the relevant portfolio and handle stakeholder expectation for associated risks and limitation of outputs results
Lead and apply ongoing knowledge and awareness in trends, standard methodology and new developments in analytics to influence functional practices. Responsible for training and developing junior colleagues in standard processes and principles.
Deliver training and advice to collaborators on optimal use of key data and analysis
Leads small (3-10 person) projects of defined scope, potentially across multiple locations
Collaborates across the Development Operations, PQL and wider communities to develop best practices and multi-functional opportunities that drive value
Oversight of partnerships with multiple external parties to craft and drive project outcomes and knowledge building.
Acts as a PQL ambassador.
Minimum Requirements –Education and Experience
University degree in related subject area, preferably in life science or equivalent. Higher degree in a scientific or business subject area is desirable
Sophisticated experience in analysing complex data, drawing multifaceted conclusions and speaking publicly in a succinct fashion to stakeholders, along with recommended actions
Advanced demonstrated experience in the analysis of data in applied business and/or scientific application domains
Validated knowledge of data analytic and visualization tools such as R, Python, SpotFire or PBI.
Demonstrable experience working with database systems (eg SQL, NoSQL, graph)
Advanced written and verbal communication, business analysis, and consultancy skills
Knowledge of current GCP guidelines and regulations, including ICH guidance and other regulatory requirements.
Good understanding of at least two business areas where the data science is applied
Experience in leading and handling junior colleagues.
