The Mt. Vernon site was established in 1972 and is the flagship site delivering innovative, life changing oral solid medicines. At the site we formulate and pack OSD tablets, capsules for over 60+ markets. The Mt Vernon site is the largest AZ production site in the US and is in the southwest corner of the state of Indiana, approximately 15 miles from Evansville, Indiana – the third largest city in the state of Indiana. Site Supply Planning within Mount Vernon Operations manages the material flow through the factory, enabling us

packaging and processing areas to produce stock for customer orders. Post manufacture, the department also

manages all product storage and shipment to over 100 countries globally. Divided into several departments, the function plans all aspects of the manufacturing process, liaising closely with our procurement team, inbound and outbound warehouses, line support teams and customer and distributor liaison. It is therefore vital that systems are managed and controlled in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

Brief Description

The Capacity Manager, reporting into the Site Planning Lead, owns the local capacity process and drives the Capacity Process for the assigned area. The aim is to reflect the correct capacity data in the planning system by supporting, coaching, and challenging Production Planners, PET Managers and other site functions.

The Capacity Manager is responsible for maintaining the site wall to wall synchronization by collaborating with other site functions such as dispensing, QA/QC, warehouse etc.

Responsibility

Process ownership

  • Execute process ownership in accordance with Business Process Management and support from site Operational Excellence Team.
  • Ensures Capacity is a site priority and measures the Available Capacity with demonstrated Capacity.
  • Determines and assesses the use of Overtime for plan adherence and ensure assets are utilized in the best way for site cost and supply.
  • Ensure the local process is well documented and followed as it relates to capacity. Works with the Supply
  • Local Process Champion to ensure consistencies across processes.
  • Drive process improvements and consistency with global capacity definitions.
  • Ensure high-capacity understanding/ownership in PET and Site planning. Train and coach Production Planners and PET representatives on importance of maintaining correct capacity in system. Coaches Production
  • Planner and PET representatives on global & regional standards of system maintenance.

Accountability for reflection of capacity in the planning system for the assigned production area in Operational and Tactical Horizon

  • Coach Production Planners to follow capacity processes
  • Escalation point for capacity related questions, including escalated downtime requests not meeting global standard
  • and there is alignment to the global standard format. Ensures master data is maintained by ensuring process is adhered by production planners and/or operational master data team.
  • Improves SAP Capacity data parameters: Point of contact for factory calendar, pooled labor, ensures planned capacity is aligned with demonstrated capacity, ensures of multi asset dependencies, and suggests how to be

Flexibility in Capacity

  • Work closely with Formulation and Packing PET to understand flexibility in ramping up and down over time.
  • Maintain “capacity map” that shows flexibility between assets, SKU vs asset capability (formats, etc)
  • Chairs monthly PET Capacity Review Meetings

Sales & Operational Planning and Long-Term Capacity process

  • Represents Site Planning in Supply Consensus Meeting and support the PET lead/PET Manager in Capacity discussions by having a consolidated view and detailed understanding of the underlaying data and performance.
  • Supports the PET lead in Blueprint and long-term capacity processes

Site Wall to Wall Supply Chain

  • Capacity manager collaborates with other site functions (warehouse, dispensing, QA/QC etc) to optimize the internal site supply chain both from a capacity and lead time perspective
  • Act as local superuser for Leadtime Visualization Tools and be instrumental in the work to improve manufacturing lead time and identify bottlenecks at site. Represents the site in Brand Improvement Plans with GSC&S

Minimum Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Logistics/Engineering/Pharmacy/or Science field of study
  • 4+yrs of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree or 3+yrs of relevant experience with a master’s degree

Preferred Experience

  • Understanding of pharmaceutical GMP principals and SOP process
  • Lean certification
  • APICS/CSCP or equivalent certification
  • Working knowledge of SAP and APO/business warehouse
  • Proficient in using key lean tools
  • Understanding in supply chain planning parameters, master data and master data integrity and quality
