We are looking for a Senior Manager, Health Economics and Payer Evidence (HEPE). In this position, you will use your strategic, analytical, and leadership skills to make a difference in the lives of Canadian patients.
This key role acts as the lead health economist on a diverse cross-functional team, who delivers strategic health economic models for the inline and future oncology portfolio at AstraZeneca. This includes designing key health economic dossiers for HTA submissions, exploring public health databases and working alongside Canadian researchers to generate payer evidence, and providing thought leadership for cross-functional teams so that patients can access our life-changing medicines.
Responsibilities:
Provides inspirational leadership and direction to the Health Economics team to deliver quality insights and evidence for market access strategies. This includes coaching and mentoring the team, managing performance discussions and attracting talent.
As the senior health economics lead, your role is to independently conceptualize and design economic models and identify appropriate data sources, including clinical trials, HRQoL studies, costing studies, SLRs and ITCs, retrospective database analyses, prospective clinician or patient epidemiological studies to support your modelling strategies.
You deliver high quality economic evidence (e.g. submission dossiers, cost-effectiveness & impact models and other supporting materials) to support submissions to HTA agencies and payers.
You support evidence gap analysis and, in collaboration with the Medical Evidence team, generate decision-grade real-world evidence (RWE) to demonstrate value to HTA reviewers, payers, and clinical decision-makers and also develop Canadian and global publication plans for this RWE.
With your expertise, you provide technical health economic and evidentiary advice to your cross-functional and leadership team members, and continue to build and maintain a network of external influencers (economists, clinicians, academics).
You develop a record of peer-reviewed publications and presentations, and are skilled at communicating and presenting at external conferences and payer/HTA meetings.
You will act as coach/mentor to colleagues and the HEPE team.
Collect and report Adverse Events in accordance with AstraZeneca policies andprocedures.
Experience
A Master’s degree, or equivalent, in a numerate subject (e.g. health economics, epidemiology, medical statistics, management science)
5+ years of pharmaceutical or health-related experience in a role involving reimbursement-related activities or health policy, or similar government experience.
Experience in building health economic models (partitioned-survival analysis, Markov models, discrete event simulations), preferably for oncology products
Experience/knowledge of survival analysis and/or individual patient analysis (cohort studies), or network meta-analyses is desirable
Experience building other payer evidence SLRs, ITCs, NMAs, survival/statistical analyses, and budget impact models
Advanced research and analytical skills; ability to derive insights from large datasets as well as work with ambiguity and synthesize value-based recommendations based on small, incomplete datasets
Experience of previous HTA submissions to CADTH, INESSS, and private payers
