The Global MSL Excellence Director for Oncology is accountable for ensuring the strategic alignment of MSL activities and the development, delivery and reporting of prioritised MSL Excellence initiatives to strengthen Field Medical capabilities across AZ regions and affiliate organisations for the Oncology Business Unit.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Lead the evolution and implementation of Field Medical professional development & continual learning programmes that ensure excellence in onboarding, and enhance MSL/MSL manager performance and impact
- Entrench robust insight generation, capture and reporting across Local markets to strengthen business impact and value – including insights platform optimisation
- Scope and inform functionality enhancements of Field Medical systems/digital tools to support in-field effectiveness and external engagement, and embed consistent utilisation across Local markets
- Support the standard process implementation of Global MSL Excellence deliverables (e.g. Field Medical Strategic Planning, insight evaluation and reporting, etc.) to ensure consistent ways of working across the function
- Provide robust strategic guidance and insights to partners regarding the diverse needs of Field Medical worldwide, to support alignment of initiatives with company priorities
- Act as a MSL subject matter expert to AZ global initiatives where Oncology MSLs are implicated. Provide insight, guidance, influence and expertise that ensures global vision for MSL role is well understood
- Use business knowledge and customer-focused ethos to champion innovative and scalable Global MSL Excellence initiatives across the function and that result in valued outcomes and maximum in-country impact
- Conduct ad-hoc analyses on projects and initiatives to proactively call out issues, propose solutions and modify strategies
Essential Requirements
- Advanced degree in scientific subject area or applicable Health Sciences field
- Experience (~5 years) in an MSL organisation, including leadership of Field Medical teams
- Experience in Global and/or Local Head Office Medical Affairs roles
- Experience working in the oncology therapeutic area
- Strong knowledge of medical strategy, clinical development, MSL role and Medical Affairs
- Experience and ability to provide strategic leadership across working groups and teams
- Outstanding project management skills and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment
- Effective problem solving using creative solutions
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, and ability to influence without authority
Desirable Requirements
- Experience in MSL performance management and outcomes-based reporting
- Design of programmes that support the management, leadership and coaching of high performing individuals and teams
- Clear understanding of the compliance requirements and governing bodies for MSL programmes
