This Medical Manager is a scientific, clinical and therapeutic area expert responsible for providing medical and scientific leadership initially for AstraZeneca’s Oncology pipeline. You will be responsible for gathering insights through scientific exchange with our medical and scientific community, consistent with AstraZeneca medical objectives to ultimately guide decision on our pipeline compounds. As a key member of the oncology medical team, you will be responsible for creating the early medical strategy for our pipeline compounds and indications. The role will see you work on clinical development programs which have a proof of concept and have moved toward a registrational study design and development. You will need to possess an agile mindset to support activities across multiple tumour types.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading cross functional efforts to ensure key communication priorities and data gaps are captured from global and regional teams and shared with local stakeholders
Provide medical expertise by being a subject matter expert on emerging data for our pipeline compounds based on scientific publications and data from congresses
Shaping medical strategy and tactical plans for AZ’s oncology pipeline
Liaise with regional and global team for planning and development of medical resources that can be utilised locally to gauge insights to shape the medical strategy for our pipeline
Gather insights through meetings with Key External Experts (KEEs) with discussions focused around our clinical trial design, patient journey and the competitive landscape
Providing scientific expertise to support early alignment on our regulatory and health economic submissions
Ability to lead and execute meetings with KEEs including advisory boards, round table meetings and small group consultancy meetings
To be successful you will have:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline (ex: Medicine, Pharmacy or disease related science) and/or extensive experience within the Medical Affairs function of the pharmaceutical industry
Knowledge and relationships with relevant customer segments and market dynamics
Demonstrated success in building strong external and internal relationships through strong communication, influencing and collaborative networking skills, along with self-driven motivation to strive and achieve
Experience with basic research, drug discovery, drug development and KOL interactions.
Demonstrated expertise in discussing scientific content and context to multiple audiences including external experts
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills and demonstrated project/team/cross-functional leadership
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills and ability to self-manage
High level analytical and conceptual thinking
Previous experience in oncology would be highly regarded
