Master Data Product Manager

Accountabilities:

As a Data Product Manager, you will drive the realisation of value for Data Products by acting as an interface between business customers and technical teams. You will prioiritise building what matters most to enable the strategic goals of the enterprise. This role requires flexibility, working both in detail and strategically alongside other Data Product Managers across the organization. You will need to understand when to apply soft skills for change management and adoption, and when to apply technical skills to construct or improve data products.

Responsibilities include:

  • Translate customer needs into actionable requirements as input into the design, build, and iteration of data products.

  • Create, maintain, and own data product roadmaps, leading the ongoing delivery and management of the product from inception to maturity.

  • Manage master data products through their lifecycle, including owning business metadata and metrics.

  • Engage and collaborate with partners and collaborators to gather input and communicate plans, timelines, and deliveries.

  • Act as a key point of contact for stakeholders and business leaders impacted by data products.

  • Ensure all data products align with the AZ Data Product governance model, meeting business, technical, and regulatory requirements.

  • Using SQL to query and manipulate data in our Operations Data Hub

  • Work with other Data Product Managers across the organization to ensure alignment with Enterprise standards & priorities alongside upskilling.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Understanding of the principles of Data Product Management, ideally having worked in a similar Data Product Manager role

  • Proficiency in SQL for data querying and manipulation

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Data Management or other technical discipline

  • Familiarity with data engineering concepts such as ETL, data modelling, data lakes/databases, reference data, master data etc.

  • Ability to understand data-related problems from Business/Product Teams and smoothly translate these into technical requirements with Data Engineering leads

  • Ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple streams of work simultaneously

  • Ability to gather and prioiritise user requirements

  • Excellent leadership, communication, influencing, and partner management skills

  • Experience establishing, communicating, and delivering product roadmaps

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the ability to make data-driven decisions

  • An interest in Master and Reference data curation

Desirable Skills/Experience:

  • Experience with Python or other scripting languages for automating ETL

  • Experience with SAP, PAS-X, GQCLIMS, GPQS, TrakSYS data

  • Experience working in a global organization where partners and project teams are geographically dispersed

  • Proven experience in the pharmaceutical industry

  • Familiarity with data science, data visualisation, and reporting concepts

  • Experience with curating controlled vocabularies

  • Experience with DataOps.Live, Reltio, or Semaphore
