This Opportunity

We are seekinghighly a motivated independent lab Scientist with wet-bench laboratory experience to join our Tumor Targeted Delivery team in Early Oncology in Gaithersburg, MD USA. As a Scientist, you will support target validation efforts for tumor-targeted therapies, such as antibody-drug-conjugates (ADCs) and targeted radio-conjugates. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to advance pipeline programs and deepen our understanding of all aspects of target biology.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support target validation efforts for one or more pipeline programs

  • Support cross-functional teams and work collaboratively with project leads to ensure the timely generation and dissemination of critical program data

  • Design, conduct, troubleshoot and analyze in vitro experiments using an array of biochemical, molecular and cellular biology techniques to validate new targets and dissect the mechanism of action of novel cancer therapeutics

  • The ideal candidate will be highly collegial, collaborative, data-driven, and have a passion to learn and grow

Essential Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline with 3+ years of laboratory research experience, or Master’s Degree with 1+ years of laboratory research experience

  • Solid understanding of cell and molecular biology

  • Laboratory experience with mammalian cell culture and molecular and cell-based experimental techniques such as flow cytometry, western blots, qPCR, ELISA, confocal and fluorescent microscopy, cell cytotoxicity assays and CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing

  • Works equally well independently with supervision and in collaboration with other teams

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills in a fast-paced matrix environment

  • Ensures one’s own work, and the work of peers, is compliant with Good Laboratory Practice, Safety, Health, and Environment standards and all other relevant internal AstraZeneca standards and external regulations

Desired Requirements

  • Prior experience in the biopharmaceutical industry viewed favorably

  • Experience in cancer research

The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $87,200 to $130,800. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
