AstraZeneca has an opening for a Scientist in the Cell Therapy group to support pre-clinical research of innovative therapeutic products. The main duties for the ideal candidate are to help build pluripotent stem cell-based regenerative approaches to support AstraZeneca’s pipeline projects.

Summary of the Group

AstraZeneca has an opening for a Scientist in the Cell Therapy group within the Antibody Discovery and Protein Engineering Department to support pre-clinical research of innovative therapeutic products. Expertise in state-of-the-art molecular and cell biology techniques is critical. The candidate will be part of an interactive team with potential to contribute to multiple pre-clinical programs using gene and cell-based therapeutics.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ability to perform cell-based assays using flow cytometry is required.

  • Experience with cloning, RT-PCR, qPCR, DNA sequence analysis is also required.  

  • Work experience using viral vectors such as lentivirus, AAV or adenovirus

  • Current hands-on experience with cell culture, in particular working with primary cells, is desired.

  • The ability to multi-task is critical.  

  • The Candidate must be well organized and must keep an excellent written record of their work. 

Education & Experience Requirements

A minimum of BS with 3+ yrs exp, or MS with 1+ yr exp in cell and molecular biology experience.

Required Skills

  • Experience and knowledge with cell culture of both immortalized cell lines and primary cells (human and mouse T cells preferred)

  • Experience in molecular biology such as cloning, sequencing (Sanger) and quantitative PCR methods

  • Flow cytometry and other cell based assays such as ELISA

  • Proven ability to work independently and effectively plan and organize work activities and prioritize task completion to meet schedules and deadlines
