About the Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to conduct innovative discovery research using a large array of expertise and unparallel facilities available at AstraZeneca. You will work in one of the worlds leading teams that are passionate about studying new mechanisms and regulating the function of myeloid cells in cancer.

The main goal of the research is to generate new knowledge with main emphasis on publication of high impact papers. You will be part of large immuno-oncology department developing novel cancer immune therapeutics. Although main focus of the training is on discovery of new mechanisms, highly interactive environment within the company will provide you with the opportunity to learn and participate in all aspects of the development of new cancer therapeutics.

You will have access to state of art equipment and experts in groundbreaking technology working in different research campuses of the company. You will gain experience in new technology and will be able to develop your abilities in research ingenuity. You will get experience in leading your own project under supervision.

You will be working with Dr. Dmitry Gabrilovich, one of the leading world experts in myeloid cells in cancer –. Dr. Dmitry Gabrilovich is one of the discoverers of myeloid-derived suppressors cells and the concept of immune suppressive myeloid cells as one of the mechanisms of immune regulation in cancer.

Qualification, Skills & Experience

Required:

  • PhD in immunology or biochemistry of lipids

  • Training and experience in basic immunology techniques;

  • Experience in using mouse models;

  • Experience with basic methods of molecular biology;

  • Experience with methods of studying lipids is an advantage;

  • Knowledge of basic principles of biochemistry of lipids and function of myeloid cells and T cells

Desirable:

  • Ability to independently operate flow cytometers

  • Candidate should have knowledge of principles of tumor immunology

  • Understanding of the biochemistry of lipids

  • The ability to work in large research groups
