The Global Commercial Director Breast Cancer, will be part of the Global Commercial Franchise Team and you will be integral to our collective efforts towards transforming care for cancer patients globally.
This role, reporting into the Global Commercial Head, Breast Cancer helps with the creation and leads the implementation of the global strategic brand plans. This role works with key global country and regional leads based in the US, Europe, Asia as well as wide range of headquarter functions including: Marketing, Global Analytics & Insights (GA&I), Digital, Diagnostics, Pricing and Market Access, Global Medical Affairs (GMA), Regulatory affairs, and others.
This position is based in Gaithersburg, MD (USA) or at one of our near shore locations (Canada).
Responsibilities:
- Lead creation and successful execution of a long-term brand vision and strategy, underpinned by robust insights (customer, patient, competition/future landscape)
- Achieve and exceed financial targets in partnership w Regions and cross-functional partners through the Integrated Business Team (IBT)
- Shaping product strategy and promotional campaign for the product including pre-launch and launch strategy plans and operational plans, market shaping and co-positioning across the tumour area
- Generate deep customer and market insights to inform the design of clinical development program, brand strategy and regulatory plans that effectively address unmet customer needs and delivers optimum value back to the business
- Support with objectively analysing and commercially evaluating the emerging profile, competitive positioning, unmet need, pricing and market access, etc.
- Scenario plan for different study outcomes and changes in the market, developing robust commercial assessments, strategic implications and action plans
- Produce detailed strategic and operational commercial plans that address positioning, segmentation, pricing, value proposition, target market selection, etc.
- Track and manage associated budget to target
- Accountable for the long-term forecast and driving alignment through the IBT
- Strengthen our Franchise: provide leadership to townhalls, facilitate shared findings, and support other engagement and communications efforts
- Develop and deliver key brand presentations to leadership
- Manage marketing relationships with agencies, vendor partners, consultants, and other third-party groups.
- Collaborate with relevant Commercial leadership (and other team members) to deliver the global ambition.
- Partner effectively with cross-functional partners and Alliance colleagues to co-develop strategy and launch plans
- Accountable for engaging with Regional/Country teams to ensure alignment and share findings across markets
Essential
- 10+ years’ experience in pharmaceutical development and commercialization. Strong Oncology background, having worked in multiple commercial roles for a large/mid-sized pharmaceutical company to drive launch and in-line performance
- Strong knowledge in global promotional campaigns and new product launches.
- Strong working knowledge of forecasting, market research, useful insight generation, and competitive landscape analysis and interpretation. Demonstrated use of insights to deliver effective marketing strategies
- Sound internal and external collaborator/partner engagement skills with proven track record to seamlessly navigate scientific and commercial organisations to drive favourable business outcomes. Demonstrated ability to influence laterally and vertically; ability to lead without authority
- Effective cross- functional project leadership and influencing skills to inform, persuade and lead across markets and functions. Ability to simultaneously handle multiple priorities with a high degree of autonomy.
- Strong analytical, organisational and communication/presentation skills
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity, with an entrepreneurial attitude and a track record of exploring new ways of working with a scientific curiosity. Strong sense of urgency and ability to generate outstanding results by driving performance and collaborating across boundaries
- Strong clinical competence and scientific mind-set & curiosity
- Effective stakeholder and relationship management experience; able to interact and build positive relationships with multiple levels within and outside of AZ. Ability to work in a matrixed organization with cross-functional teams across multiple regions
- High ethical standards and personal integrity

The annual base pay (or hourly rate of compensation) for this position ranges from $220,870 to $331,306. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles). Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
