Summary of the group:

The Late Stage Formulation Group is responsible for development of intended commercial formulations to advance AstraZeneca’s late stage biologics portfolio, and the life cycle management of commercialized products. The group plays an integral part in the design and development of patient centric drug products. 

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical and leadership for late-stage formulation development of biologics
  • Responsible for project decisions and scientific and organizational deliverables
  • Author and review marketing applications and support regulatory responses to approval
  • Make detailed observations, summarize results in tables and figures, document data into lab notebooks, and analyze data and interpret results
  • Present data and results at group and department meetings as well as other internal forums

Education & Experience Requirements:

BS or MS or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Bioengineering or a related field.

  • Associate Scientist: Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of experience OR Master's degree with no additional experience.
  • Scientist : Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience OR Master’s degree with 2+ years of experience OR Ph.D. with 0+ years of experience

Required Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with biological characterization methods including analytical and biophysical techniques for detection, identification and quantitation
  • Knowledge of formulation and biopharmaceutical development including protein biochemistry and degradation
  • Effective communication skills to work in teams and to present complex scientific concepts
  • Ability to work independently and to influence team decision-making

Desired Skills:

  • Prior experience working with inhalable biologics or adoptive cell therapy products (e.g. CAR T)
  • Experience with formulation and biopharmaceutical development, control strategy, quality risk management, or regulatory filing
  • Experience with Design of Experiment and statistical data analyses
